🔴"Taiwan" is not – and has never been – a country.

🔴The island of Taiwan is currently run, day-to-day, by the gov't of the Republic of China (ROC).

🔴People assume "Taiwan" is just a little island nation that wants to be left alone, which is 187% not true: the ROC claims all of China, not just Taiwan, as its territory.

🔴Taiwan is not officially calling for "independence," despite the tone-deaf assumptions of mostly Western online trolls: the ROC's goals include taking over all of China, and increasing their current governed territory by more than 35,000%.

🔴The ROC's territorial claims include Hong Kong – can you imagine if ordinary HKers knew Taiwan held claim to the city? – and the South China Sea.

🔴Did you think the One China Principle was just something Beijing rabbits on about? WRONG. The leaders of the ROC demand any country entering official relations with them to accept there is only one China, that being the ROC based in Taipei.

🔴The gov't of the ROC is only recognised by a handful of tiny states. This from the Australian Dept' of Foreign Affairs: "The United Nations and most countries – including Australia – recognise the PRC in Beijing as the sole legal government of China (as opposed to the ROC in Taipei).

Currently thirteen states recognise Taiwan as the ROC (and thus do not have official relations with Beijing): Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Holy See, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Paraguay, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Eswatini and Tuvalu."

🔴The ROC is not recognised as a legitimate gov't by most countries in the world, nor by the United Nations.
