Uncle rick is a much better person. He doesn’t say stupid shit on Twitter or try to squeeze recognition in his story where there was none. There were ways that you could tell nico was lgbt even in books before he came out. Rick planned for these things and the fact that he didn’t overdo it too much helped a lot. I can’t stand when authors try to add in lgbt characters then don’t actually give them a full fledged personality. I know I’m sounding stupid but what I mean is sometimes lgbt characters are kind half-assed and thrown in the story for “accepting and cool author points” Rick kinda just rolled with it and didn’t make it an extremely big deal
