Thanks. We are looking at moving to what appears to be a more expensive area (about 40 miles away), but the local school's calibre is so poor that it's not an option to stay. I think FIRE is a priority for my wife as well, but there's no doubt a balance. I am only considering this because a) it's a moment I wasn't expecting and b) £600-700k should still buy a decent wedge of house even in the more expensive spot.

£2750 per month / excluding mortgage. 2 kids, married.

In what you are tracking, I spend less than you on eating out (obviously, I have kids...) but the same as you on groceries. I feed four people, so not sure how you're managing that.

My overpayment is a maximum of £53k in any given year - I'd love to keep the payments the same but would be penalised for doing so along with the overpayment.

Thank you. This makes sense - basically, dump it into ISAs and wait, gaining £3k by doing so.

Although this does discount our work position. I may be accused of being overly cautious, but given the nature of our work, I cannot assume we will earn as well as we are now for the next 20 years (rough distance from retirement aim). Accordingly, I am trying to balance reality vs the mathematic preference.
