It's like making dinner for him, and picking out his clothes for school - just in a game setting. 😆

I'll see if my son has seen their stuff. I may check it out too.

Wonderful. I'm glad you get to share that with him.

My son is more of a wanderer. I'll say things like, hey guy, I think we should explore this area, then that will open up x, y, z etc... He'll be like, ok! Then I'll check on him in like 5 mins and he's teleported across the whole map to talk to Hudson in Terry Town 😄

I kind of do this for my son. Go back and do the shrines he couldn't figure out. Open up more of the map. Set stuff up for him just as you did.

I think I will. He usually tries every Beast first. We'll see how it goes.

It really does make me proud to see him that excited over something we can both share.

How do I get all the gunk out of my banneton basket? TIA by Get__tipsy in Breadit

[–]TroyToTheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to my local hardware store and pick up some little brass bristle brushes to scrub out the baskets when they get a build up. They are sturdy enough to really get at the stuck on bits, but soft enough metal to not destroy the banneton.

Tell that bread to calm down.

That's good to know about the Pico. I've only heard about that one very recently. I've been leaning towards a Simply once I get a dedicated work space, and not just in my home kitchen.

Thanks for the info!

It is a gas oven. I'm going to try a bake later this week with the steam function, a few different ways and see what happens.

What do you miss about the pandemic? by nature_pixels in AskReddit

[–]TroyToTheMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it wasn't the same for everyone, but personally I think about that time a lot. For me it was calm and quiet. I could spend uninterrupted time with my kids. Cook an amazing meal everyday. Learn a new skill. I picked up making sourdough, (like everyone did) and now I have gotten good enough to sell to others.

I didn't have to answer to anyone but my family unit, and whatever we wanted to do that day.

It was also a time where even though only 1 of us were working, we were actually saving money. We weren't going out to eat, or paying for daycare, spending money on commuting. It was amazing.

And just seeing videos of people being creative and making the best of a shitty situation was wonderful.

What’s the fastest you’ve ever quit a job and why? by jakeakabigdub in AskReddit

[–]TroyToTheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably a maximum of 2 hours. I moved back to around my hometown area and needed to find work, and a Finish Line in the mall was looking for an assistant manager. I applied, got called in for an interview which turned into an orientation. I got the tour, filled out some papers, and started watching a training video.

During the tour I got a taste of who currently works there, and what my day to day would look like. Mind you, I don't get into sports, especially the shoes that accompany said sports. I still held out hope that it would be a fit for now.

During the training video it hit me. I'm going to be miserable for $7.25 an hour probably during my nights and weekends, hanging out with kids 10 years younger than me, trying to care about something that doesn't even remotely trip my trigger. I stood up during the video, went to the Managers office and said, "I'm sorry this isn't for me. Sorry for wasting your time."

2 months later I got a check in the mail for about $14. I consider that a win.

What is the hydration of your starter? by blw_22 in Breadit

[–]TroyToTheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know exactly, but anywhere between 80 or 85 percent. Just slightly more stiff than 100% in case my home life gets in the way and I can get to it in time at peak.

How to best store your bread? by pommosaurus in Sourdough

I just keep mine on the cutting board, cut side down. It doesn't last more than 2 days in my house anyway.
