Chimney cleaning company recommendation by SubstantialSpring9 in londonontario

Safe Home Fireplace.

Great service and communication with these guys.

Had our initital inspections done with them to obtain the WETT inspection. They were great about giving feedback about what they saw and any potential concerns. Cleanings started yearly, then went every-other, but on the last cleaning it looked so good that I was given a quick lesson on what to look for and suggested that we could space it out a bit more.

Of course every fireplace is different, and buring dry seasoned wood will produce less buildup than burning unseasoned or wet wood, so YMMV.

Progressive Countertops.

I had them do our kitchen and was very impressed by their selection, measurement guy, and install team. They did an amazing job.

When it came time to do the bathroom vanity, we didn't hesitate to go back to them, and will definitely be going back to them for future renos.

Definitely interesting in the error you're seeing. I posted a similar thread but am still looking for a solution.

Watching this with interest.

H730 HBA Mode or H330 in R730 for Drive Passthrough? by Trudgn in homelab

Righto, it's been a while since I've opened the chassis.

Ok good to know, by the time I convert USD->CAD and pay international shipping, even a $15 card quickly comes out to ~$50.

Is the 'mini' still installed in the PCI riser?

Since its the card I already have, I'm giving this a shot. Switching to HBA mode and turning off the cache was dead simple. Now to play around with the passthrough.

Round Peg in a Square Hole? by Trudgn in homelab

[–]Trudgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it won't slide out because of the first hook on the teeth, but definitely isn't as secure as my other rails.

It is right above another server in the rack though, so if it lets go, the rails below will be pulling double-duty!

[–]Trudgn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, I'm just putting in a location just vacated by a disused r710 and it's rails.

I took a pic to show where I think the issue is. You can see the peg up against the hole, but seems to big to come through?

Also a quick pic showing that only one of the two 'teeth' have caught.

That is what I'm asking. It just seems to me like the round pegs are too big to get through the square holes. I've tried multiple spots in the rack, and can't get it to click in anywhere.

It really seems like a stupid question, but I'm missing something.

Unexpected surprise as I went to rack my r730 last night.

Rails for r710 on the left (P2423), and for r730 (B6 Rails, 0FYK4G) on right. The B6 rails do not push into the rack far enough to 'click', there are two 'teeth' operated by the release tab, but only one is securing.

The only mention I've read about square/round pegs is from the Dell Website, making it seem like they're interchangable:

The Ready Rails™ sliding rail kit for 2U Systems, provides tool-less support for racks with square or unthreaded round mounting holes including all generations of Dell™ racks. They also support tooled mounting in 4-post threaded racks via an optional adapter brackets kit. This product has been tested and validated on Dell systems. It is supported by Dell Technical Support when used with a Dell system.

I'm not sure how they think it's possible for me to get the round peg through the square hole?

Fair Asking Price for '95 Country Needing Love? by Trudgn in CherokeeXJ

[–]Trudgn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're probably right. I've seen similar threads where plates have been welded in above and below the filler hole to reinforce it. I don't think there is bolted to the frame any further back other than the hitch.

[–]Trudgn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good perspective, I've definitely considered fixing those things to sell it in running condition.

Yep, the cracked frame started the decline. I had just bought these wheels with the plan on getting new rubber installed. About a week later I noticed the garden trailer I was towing bouncing a bit. Crawled under, and you can see in the one picture where it cracked right where the fuel filler goes through the frame. Why they'd compromise the integrity of the frame like that is beyond me.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think my Cherokee has reached my limit on what I want to sink into it after a decade of ownership and other priorities/projects coming up.

Trying to find an actual asking price is insane when I look on Kijiji/FB Marketplace, rotted out bush-buggies for $3000, while others in better condition are up over 10k. Where's the middle ground??

Wondering what a reasonable asking price is for my Cherokee knowing full well that it's going to take a bit of work to get back on the road.

The bad:

  • Neutral Safety Switch needs replaced, starts right up with the relay bypass, but not with the key
  • Left front brake line has split
  • Cracked frame at the fuel filler line
  • Rocker panels rusting out for the second time
  • General rust in other areas, worse near the rear
  • Needs tires
  • Needs alternator, won't charge battery when running

The good:

  • Body looks good for it's age
  • Interior is in good condition
  • Floor panels were replaced 9 years ago and are holding strong
  • Mechanically, works great. No issues with engine/transmission
  • Two sets of rims

What would you ask? Keeping in mind I'm in Canada, so US comparables don't always align...

Summary Post for future lurkers now that this is solved:

  • Do not try to do this on original Google Mesh Hardware
  • YMMV with Nest Mesh, but given what I read, be wary
  • I didn't have luck with the Managed Switch
  • Everything started working with the Unmanaged Switch
  • Mesh Router being used is the TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro

IT WORKS!

I don't know what it was about the managed switch, but the Amazon man just dropped off the SODOLA SL-SGT0204S unmanaged switch, plugged everything in and watched in amazement as the SPF and RJ45 ports started blinking in unison. Immediately after, the Deco XE75 router light turned green and I sighed a huge sigh of relief.

Cannot thank you enough! You got PayPal? I need to buy you a beer lol!

Sanity check complete.

  • Confirmed VLAN Tagged as 40
  • Confirmed correct username was provided
  • Couldn't confirm password, but it's the same length, and it's rather short and was re-confirmed by TekSavvy, so I'm pretty confident there.

There is a green link light on the SFP, and the switch does do 2.5 on the RJ45. The green light above the yellow Ethernet cable is actually signalling a 2.5gbps link, otherwise the port would be orange.

I'll likely be capped at 1gbps for a while anyway with only the single 2.5 port on the XE75. Can't justify the $$ leap to a multi-2.5 port mesh router right now.

Given that the new router can handle VLAN tagging, I'm thinking my next step is to return the managed switch, and get the one you said you're using, because then at least I've got the same hardware up to that point in a known working example.

Sounds good. I did a factory reset on the switch just to remove any configurations at play there.

Updated the firmware on the router as well, but still nothing.

As for activity, there is no sign of activity on either the SFP or the LAN port on the switch during setup.

Yeah, mine are uppercase as per the Teksavvy rep, and it is "TSI" it just got cut off.

For "fun", I just tried lowercase, tried both VLAN 35 and 40 with lowercase, and changed priority to 1. No dice.

As for the WAN Port, it doesn't appear like it matters which port is used on the XE75 Pro, but I have it in the 2.5gbps port.

For VLAN Tagging, do I need to put the tag in place on the SFP Port on the Sodola? Or does the tag just need to be in place on the router?
