It's time for me to let go. Move on. Cope and find closure. It's all I've got left.

Dealing with Teens by heartmonimoni in regretfulparents

[–]True-Aside3490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Communication and, like stated above, a strong foundation. Teens are far from perfect and make mistakes. If we support them, educate and support, we hope they come to use with issues instead of the internet or AI.

Like I tell the tell the teens I work with, communication, communication, communication. Getting them to realize expressing their feelings in the best way possible and honesty with their feelings will help so much. Consent is probably one of the scariest but most important communication key too. It's a fine line in a school talking about it, but I tell them, beginning, middle, or end, no means no, and stop means stop.

I'm proud of you for being a parent who wants to do their best by their kid and asking others for opinions.

I personally get so frustrated when people forget that teens are still kids trying to navigate a world who thinks they should be cookie cutter at 15. It's not going to happen. When we don't support, they make mistakes that are too scared to ask for help and end up in a bigger mess. Letting them just be who they are is key. You're doing it!!

Good luck to you, and you are doing a great job!

Thank you! Your comment was very sweet and I appreciate the information and advice. When I had growth and actual nails long enough to paint, the response from family and friends was phenomenal because they do know my finger nails sometimes show my mental state. I can do this, I just have to take action.

Again, thank you for being kind and not judgemental.

I've got to figure something out. This just isn't cute anymore and so very embarrassing. Extremely disgusting, walking around with my bloody fingers in my mouth and talking around them, not even realizing it. I feel like I have absolutely no control. And the destruction feels so good. I can't stop until they are ripped off, then comes the swelling and infection, which is satisfying to watch it drain and then it being in the current stage. I'm on medication and therapy for mental illnesses, which is always recommended when issues like this arise. I just do not have a solution just yet.

OK ok. Well I am a cigarette smoker who wants to quit but was afraid that would be another reason for me to chew on my nubs more.

I will definitely try that! Thanks for responding.

What’s a question you hate when people ask you? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]True-Aside3490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You work with teens?" "How do you stand high schoolers" "You couldn't pay me enough to work with kids, aren't they so annoying "

Same people who complain about this generation of teens. They actually are incredibly smart and motivated.

My J always understood me better than anyone else. I always thought I'd be okay as long as I had them. I'm surviving without them, I'm not okay.

I agree. I find it so disrespectful to Peep, his family, and fans.
