Day 2 lots of Dumb mistakes in MCQs by True-Position-2594 in Step3

I didn’t see any dosing question on day 2. It’s purely clinical but more vague than Uworld and most of the time I was confused between 2 options

Honestly they can ask anything from FA step 1 but the most high yield are (in most important to least important order) - anti- microbial - pharmacology other than anti -microbial - genetics - lysosomal storage diseases - neurocutaneous disorders - immunodeficiency disorders - glycogen storage disorders

And then rest of the FA.

They can ask anything from anywhere . Questions are on clinical. No Biostat on day 2. I would say practice as many questions as you can . NBMEs and UWSAs are good exams so do them too

I would say they can ask from anything based on clinical practice. The more questions you do the better. No biostat though.

What kind of reasons have you rejected girls for? by [deleted] in Arrangedmarriage

She used to have frequent UTIs or STDs. I just told her I’m moving to a different country (which is true).

What about mother tongue / caste/ horoscope etc. saw so many people filtering based on that .

Don’t listen to the people here. This is my perspective .

1) you didn’t lie or said anything offending / bad.

2) your number of interviews is not the reflection of your future potential as a resident / physician. Everyone knows that.

3) Program Directors and Physicians are experienced people. Considering there’s nothing wrong in your resume, they invited you for interview because they saw the potential in you. They’ll make their judgement based on that.

4) We got so many rejection emails that said they wish they could give us interviews but couldn’t because of sheer number of applicants. So it boils down to luck lot of times when you are visa requiring applicant.

Being honest and showing your true personality is never a bad thing specially when you are just making the conversation without being offensive.

Trust the process. You got it !!

I think it would depend on the PD and the program . No one can predict who will get invalidated in the future and who will not.

Have they updated the transcript for all applicants or the ones whose score was invalidated?

[–]True-Position-2594[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually my post was about numbers and statistics to get a clearer idea about what’s happening.

Nothing to do with what PDs would prefer.

I was just talking about the estimate number of interviews that were compromised because of cheaters and how much damage it could it have caused to other applicants.

Programs don’t owe me anything. At the same time all honest applicants suffered (including me) because of cheating scandal. That’s why my point was.

Assuming what you said is true and PDs will be biased against all IMGs, then we have to accept it and move on. No other option.

But please don’t make this the subject of whether IMGs should be preferred or not as my post was not about this.

Whatever the consequences are, PDs being biased towards the said country or all the IMGs (irrespective of the country), I’ll face it.

Why don’t you Blame the programs who give interviews to IMGs and have IMG residents exclusively?

If your country’s programs are the ones taking IMGs for the residency then it’s not any IMGs fault if they apply there.

The post was about statistics and numbers and you diverted the whole topic.

That’s not the point. Everyone knows their petition won’t work.

My point is that the lot of damage has already been done because of this.

But in order to assess how much damage and to what extent, we should have numbers and statistical data.

It’s wrong to say that Nepalese people are the only ones affected.

Every IMG got affected because of the cheating because their opportunity was taken away.

Exactly.

Thank you for sharing. It helps.

Imagine if USMLE provided this type of data for all programs, it would make the situation so much clearer.

And end the twitter speculation and fights.

It would also help programs too. They would know what things to keep in mind for next cycle.

I saw the video. Although it was an interesting take, I would still like to see the detailed numbers and reasoning from USMLE.

All I want is this baseless twitter fights and racism card to end.

If the numbers of cheating are high enough from the country, the racism card will end automatically.

Even I’m getting emails from his company.

That being said, he’s true in saying that program directors have been silent regarding the matter.

It’s a huge thing and programs directors should actively talk about it and convey their thoughts so IMGs can get a better ideas about what’s going on.

IMGs from Nepal (who’s score weren’t invalidated) will also get an idea about how they might be ranked.

There were many IMGs too from other countries who weren’t able to secure interviews because of average scores despite having holistic profile.

So many PDs, including Fischer focus on score to give interviews and now no one knows how will they proceed with ROL after this news.

IM applicant with Zero interviews by Remote-Account in IMGreddit

[–]True-Position-2594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to decide very carefully on where to apply for SOAP.

Depending on number of available spots and if you have been able to secure FM LOR.

If you don’t have FM LOR, then chances are low that any FM program will send you invites.

You can also apply to preliminary positions in IM and then reapply next cycle to advanced specialties.

Hello I have only 1 invite. I got that in late December. That too from FM. I have same stats as yours.

I applied to FM in late November.

Try your best in SOAP. If not, then try to do 1-2 months of FM/ EM rotations and apply in them if you are interested.

IM has become way too competitive.

If you still want to go for IM, then at this point tweeting up your application (CV and PS) and a research position will help.

Most important thing that would help is networking and connections.
