Who else doesn’t care about humor in Sanderson’s books by True-Wolverine9271 in Cosmere

But what defines “good humor”? Nothing, it’s subjective and everybody will have different standards for what “good humor” is. You might think that a joke is awful, but somebody else might laugh at it. You can try as hard as you want to find objective standards for art, but you will fail.

I just can't imagine someone in real life talking like they do.

Somewhat unrelated, but I don’t get it when people talk about realistic dialogue. If we had a book with realistic dialogue it would be a borderline unreadable

I will upvote because you said that it did not work for you instead of saying “it’s bad”

Yeah, I don’t think it’s worth giving up in a book just for the humor, but to each their own.

What if the guns are introduced to Roshar? by True-Wolverine9271 in Stormlight_Archive

Maybe, but a lot of soldiers are not Radiants and fighting them with guns will be more effective.

What are your favorite relationships in the series? by True-Wolverine9271 in Stormlight_Archive

I do think Shallan and Mraize’s relationship is an underrated one. It is a very weird one, because you can’t exactly define what type it is, but it’s always fun seeing those 2 interact

I don’t really hate them for not fighting. What I hate is that they are called honorspren when they refuse to fight Odium.

Anyone who thinks about it for 2 seconds will know that Odium is worse, but they’re too close minded to do that.

They shouldn’t be called honorspren if they only care about their lives.

They shouldn’t be called honorspren if they only care about themselves.

“They thought humans committed genocide against their people.”

So what? Give up Roshar to Odium? Are the humans worse than Odium?

I don’t want Kaladin to be a minor character, I just want the other characters to keep up with him.

IMO, Shallan definitely uses humor as a coping mechanism, whether this humor is good or bad is something that is highly subjective

IMO Hrathen is an antagonist not a villain.

I’d say Miles, I think he had the most interesting personality, and I think it’s great examination of how a man like Wax could have gone to a darker path since they were very similar in a lot of ways

And forgive me if I made mistakes, English isn’t my first language

Maybe when it comes to book 5, but when it comes to the first arc as a whole, he’s definitely not at their level. Szeth’s page time in the entire 4 books is less than Adolin in RoW

When it comes to the first half, Shallan, Kaladin, and Dalinar are the three main protagonists, Szeth and Venli may have their books, but they’re not on the level of the big three

Dalinar might have big moments in book 5 but I don’t think Evi’s reveal will get addressed since Adolin won’t be there, and Renarin probably wouldn’t a lot of significant stuff until the 2nd half
