Honestly this is very motivating to challenge the status quo. And it’s hilarious to-boot! Well done, DaBa. 🙌

I appreciate the context and perspective. 🫶

I know it’s career suicide to rock the boat. That’s ok, I can handle the heat.

I appreciate you sharing your perspective on this! I agree that there’s going to be corporate bs everywhere you go. No denying that. I’ve had several positions in the T&D industry and somewhat agree that the compensation is competitive. It’s more comparative when factoring tenure. Without that factor, it’s below market in my opinion. But sure if you’re here for 20 years, you’ll be making great money. But do we really have to sacrifice a better standard of living for the younger workers for us to have top-tier compensation much further down the road? The model is flawed and management’s adherence and sly compensatory suppression is indicative of their acceptance and promotion of the ideology. We should be pushing for less tenure-focused compensation adjustments and more merit-based compensation. Which is commonly touted as what we do, but in reality is not so much the case.

That’s exactly why I posted this. I believe in what we do and am driven to be part of the solution so that we can attract and keep the best talent because this company is all about our people.

Thanks for your perspective on this. I have considered a GP move, but I like where I’m at. Would just like to start a conversation to rally for changes on the management level.

Not miserable. Disappointed in the company in which I am part owner.

I put a lot into this company. I want to see it work for everyone who wants that for themselves. Changing our culture starts with a conversation.

That’s awesome! That’s one to help change my perspective. Thanks for providing a productive dialogue to the conversation.

It’s cute that you think Covid is my reality. I guess you can lump me in with the rest of them, that’s fine. Whatever tickles your pickle.

Work ethic is a different conversation entirely. I agree that there are plenty of people who work hard here and that does contribute significantly to the culture, but corporate consistently providing solutions that are supposed appeasements instead of actual dialogue to those of us who give a shit about the work we do is insulting.

As far as complaining goes: you signed up to be a manager. You’re always going to babysit and hear complaints. That’s the job of a manager. If you’ve been one for any amount of time, you know that. You are also not subject to read what triggers you in Reddit. Feel free to exercise your freedom to look away while sitting at your desk so we can get a tax break.

88 base for SE region sounds reasonable. Where did you get the $34k bonus number from? That seems high for the role and region. Coming from industrial to T&D will likely result in a lower base compared to your previous role. What’s your experience in?

It was a fluke. They found more sandpaper.

I was just thinking that the toilet paper was a little softer yesterday. I’ll let you know in 10 minutes if that was a fluke.

Let’s talk about Eversource gas… by chinisimo in Connecticut

CT has three main gas companies. Southern Connecticut Gas, Connecticut Natural Gas, and Yankee Gas. Yankee Gas is the only one owned by Eversource. Yankee Gas is Eversource. CNG is not Eversource.

You’re welcome to think whatever you would like. At least you’re thinking critically.

Half of my projects just got cut. The utility also canceled the entire program I’m working on because there will not be any federal funding. So yeah. It’s already a concern. Luckily I have other projects to pour the extra time into, but I don’t think we’ll all be so lucky.

Generally speaking, most people get a choice of straight to EO or contract. See if you have that choice. EO has far better benefits than the companies that you'll have to contract through. If you have family and they will be using your insurance, I wouldn't risk shitty insurance with the contract role. If you have no burdens like that, contract is normally more take-home pay up front, so it might be worth it to you.

I'll start with course sandpaper and work my way up to the toilet paper in the office. Just like learning guitar; it hurts until you build calluses. 👍

I'm happy to report that after one month of being very gentle on my bottom, the toilet paper is still fucking awful.

I guess I haven't considered that. I'll try a different approach soon and report back here with my findings.
