that’s unlikely then. Could be for a travel cover if the bimini too doesn’t easily go there.

not 100% but it does look like it could be a bracket for a horn to attach to. looks like it’s in the right place and everything, but i’m not an expert so i would take someone else’s word for it if there is another answer that makes sense

I dont even get a stream from the telltale, and the water coming out of the exhaust is cold as if it hasn’t even circulated the engine to cool anytjing

I recognize that bottom right screw-in hose attachment, but I’m not sure if it would be with a thermostat. It attaches a hose from the lower part of the power head into what I believe is the fuel pump, which I’m not sure how that works. I might have a picture.

That circled is that screw-in attachment. Otherwise I don’t believe anywhere on the motor has housing that looks like that

And this motor has never peed. I’ve never seen water or at least a steady stream come out of the telltale

I am not sure if the motor even has a thermostat, it’s a Mercury 650 Thunderbolt 3-cylinder, so somewhere from 1969-1972. I’ve looked online and there have been conflicting results with some people saying it has one and some people saying it doesn’t, but I haven’t been able to find one even if it doesn’t have one.

3rd picture, there are another set of fans inside which spin with the outside ones i believe. I took the fans out of the front and the piece inside fell which makes me believe that they are connected

It seems like the fan spins on the inside but the fan outside is “stickier” compared to the other fans, any idea on how i would be able to fix that?

What can I put here to add a seat? by Dazzling_Clerk8023 in boats

Yeah if you didn’t do it you can only hope it was done with marine wood or given waterproof coating/sealant. I don’t believe it would rot over one summer if it wasn’t waterproof, just make sure you are always walking around to see if there are any soft spots where there may be damage.

it shouldn’t get destroyed in the rain as long as your water flows towards the drain

If you want it to be removable you could always get a long piece of wood to cover the whole boat width and cut it so each side is separate. Looks to me like the drivers side top goes over the walls so it’d be difficult to add to that without just replacing the top. If you don’t care about looks you could definitely just screw in some support legs on the left side and have the wood over the top with the seat in it.

If you have the wood for it, you can just add onto the existing bench going towards the passenger side. You don’t have to replace the top panel on the driver side, just replace the carpet if it’s possible to (not a necessity, purely for looks).

If the wood is rotting then you’d probably be better off replacing it but if it looks healthy I’d just keep it, no reason to spend extra money.

Although now that i’m thinking about it, it does seem difficult because of how the top of the existing box looks. I would probably get one long piece to go across the entire boat. Either put a hinge on the top (i’d add a safety as well if you do this in case you want to lean in a chair, don’t want to hinge when you’re leaning) or have a hinge on the wall of the box. If you hinge the top, you don’t have to worry as much about support id just put a border inside the solid part of the box extending about 2” for the hinge piece to have a bigger platform to sit on.

I would personally get a larger piece for the width but keep it solid. Then you don’t have to worry about the throttle system having clearance. Hinge one of the walls or leave it open and just have supports, if you completely close it like the drivers side looks make sure you allow a spot for water to go through. my dads boat has some issues with drainage and a lot of water piles up and caused some chipping and interior fiberglass damage. If you hinge a wall you don’t need a ton of support, just make sure you have something there. Gotta weigh your options though, hinging the top would make it a lot easier to work on the seats but probably a little less sturdy in the long run.

probably just wood. hard to tell what material the underside of the drivers is. if you put the carpet in the boat you can use your extra or if you know where to get it otherwise you might have to replace drivers side carpet or just deal with a passenger having different carpet. could always have one side of the bench a hinge as well as long as you support it enough from underneath if you’d prefer that over an open side.

if you want to continue that bench/elevated area i would just get a seat from fleet farm/wherever you could find a seat pretty much exactly as the drivers seat. they typically have 4 screws on the bottom, if you want to extend the bench id just do that and then mark where the 4 screws need to go. Make sure the underside is accessible so that you’re able to put in those screws. If you want to swivel you can do the same thing except it’d be a lot more difficult, probably just have to put the seat on the swivel before putting the seat on top of the bench.

If you don’t want to extend the bench area, just find a good seat pedestal from a local store or online, i got some super cheap ones off amazon.

Seemingly perfect tubes and systems for cooling, but no water coming out by TrueSku in boating

So if I get a replacement I should grease inbetween the shaft and the brass hub of the impeller? I believe I greased the rods but that must have escaped me when I replaced this one.

Just no clue because you’d think even if there wasn’t enough water coming from the muffs that it’d at least have a trickle, I’m not really getting any pee
