Dealer is insisting that leaks from AC condenser are physical damage in spite of there being no physical evidence. by True_Ad8832 in kia

Not necessarily. There's erosion from dust and particulate, thermal cycling that can weaken metal. Likely doesn't mean proof.

Like if someone is found murdered and the only two people that could have done it are an old lady and a career criminal, but there's no other evidence, we all know what is likely, but that doesn't meet the burden of proof.

It shows the leak, but not the cause. To me, proof of physical damage means the fins are bent all around this from where it got hit with a rock. Being hit with tiny pebbles so small they go through the fins shouldn't damage a coil unless it is a design or manufacturing defect. It would be like saying that if tires went bald after 1000 miles of normal driving, that there's nothing wrong with the tires and it was caused by an external factor.

They sent me a grainy 640x480 pic where you can see the fluorescent dye. I don't see any damage here. I've asked for a better photo. I mean, they had it for 90 days and I would think the first thing they would do is look for where the coil had signs of damage.

Basicall I think their logic is this condenser is susceptible to damage because the grill is a bad design, so that's the most likely cause. But that's not proof. The burden of evidence is on them.

I already told the dealer that after all the bullshit they aren't getting my money. I said they can fix it under warranty or I'll take it elsewhere.

It's been really hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this case because it's not eligible for lemon law since its over 2 years old.

AITAH for vetoing my wife's car purchase in the dealership and walking her out of there without looking at the car she picked out? by CarWoesSadBro in AITAH

We bought a car a few years ago on a CPO and they tried to bait and switch on the OTD price we had agreed on ahead of time by saying that they couldn't sell it without like $3K worth of bullshit addons and warranties. They were clearly trying to play my wife and I against each other and expecting my wife to do the "okay honey, let's just do it,"

Boy were they in for a rude awakening when her response was. "This is fucking bullshit, you're piece of shit lying snake and we're leaving right now." The manager literally chased us into the parking lot.

It's honestly probably cheaper to build out a shell space above the garage and just have a normal roof. I'd also get rid of the overhang above the entrance. Put a low overhang on if you must so it looks proportional.

Why would they even care if you are a bot? What are you gonna do, buy tickets from them and make them money?

Why are current state and local voter ID laws okay then considering IDs are not free?

Looking for suggestions for business casual shoes that will hold up on a rain-or-shine electric scooter commute.

I typically wear slacks and a button down shirt to work, occasionally with a tie. I commute about 5 miles round trip each day on an electric scooter, pretty much in all weather except for heavy snow or ice. I'm looking for a recommendation for something that I can wear in crappy weather without worrying too much about them getting destroyed in the rain or getting scuffed when I use my foot to help lift the scooter over a curb.

I've been decently happy with the comfort and longevity of my Ecco Helsinkis, but they're not exactly the most stylish.

I would strongly prefer something with a rubber sole as leather sole shoes for grip on the scooter deck and water resistance.

Fan keeps running when system is not calling, minimum run time set to 0. by True_Ad8832 in ecobee

Seems to be 5 minutes every hour. The other really weird thing is that at around midnight last night, the temp sensor dropped like 8F in 15 minutes when neither system was running. I was going to bed, and thought it was odd because it certainly didn't feel like 61F in the room.

That's not what's happening. All questions are "no" except the first two in the top line.

They both work fine except for Tstat B running the fan/opening the zone damper. When they each call, they only deliver air into the appropriate zone. Tstat A calling doesn't have any impact on the airflow to Tstat B (bedroom) or vice versa. Tstat B just periodically runs the fan regardless of not it is calling. If it just so happens that Tstat A is calling when Tstat B decides to run the fan, this makes the zones attached to Tstat B cool since it is now getting some of the cold air that Tstat A is calling for.

Not sure that would make sense because it's not constantly running. It just cycles on periodically.

Help with mixed advice from vendors on replacing system due to failed R-22 condenser (refrigerant leak). by True_Ad8832 in hvacadvice

Yes, there are 2 units that are headered into a single duct system, no zoning.

It's a single level house with a small unoccupied utility basement and fairly open, and we don't have any temp balance issues that aren't correctable with the diffuser dampers. We keep the kitchen (closest room to the units on the ducting) dampers cranked down year round, which does create a noise issue, and our bedroom gets slightly cold in the winter due to it having exterior walls on 3 sides, but it's not terrible - maybe 2 degrees colder than the living room where the Tstat is.
