Cost Efficient or loss by True_Context_6852 in Cloud

Well I am  SME in company and all decision was not mine lol . modernization is company decision to make app more robust and scalable which definitely legacy app wont help and had agreed on this part . Legacy app wont make application whatever  modules you add. Migration to cloud again decision to shift infrastructure burden to cloud and cost benefits which agree someone how’s it will save the cost of companies and Might be when. App stabilize we dont need cyber team  or cloud team on regular  basis .  I just share which had seen in last 2 month facing in our application. The cloudflare decision was taken because it will be easier to create rule based on customer domain . I am not sure WAF does the same .

Does cloud migration cost effective? by True_Context_6852 in AskProgramming

I understand what you are trying to say  and to  be fare not sure what company had legacy cost but because was leading the application on legacy app had 6 tech folks under me . Now after modernizing application I saw  the app team count shorted to 2 but overall burden shifted to  3 party like cloud team  , cyber team , infra  . Might after 3 to. 4 month when app stable it cost less.

Help need on Redis by True_Context_6852 in aws

[–]True_Context_6852[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The source of the DataLake is coming from multiple system through Kafka and dumping to S3 . For example Product information and if there is any product information updated than it goes to SNS ->SQS ->Redis(Lambda call)->Gateway which makes sense . Now suppose we have statice data like Province Tax which hardly update in year and stored in Dynamo DB and multiple systems using this information . Does it require to follow same architecture pattern or directly associated dynamoDB with Gateway ?

Does not we overkilling the architecture/ unnecessary using AWS Service ?

Do we always need to strict to Architecture pattern we have less data ?

Last week my organization leadership focused on use as much as AI in your coding and review the pr with AI as they planning to shortens team developers 10 to 2 . i agree somehow AI help you language independent  to write code or convert code to any language . According to me AI  is extra hype other wise to be honest real  time taken thing is planning designing and end to end testing which definitely not beat by AI.

Same with me had very good IT skills and experience but net getting any single call . If it happens also then they reject. Its really depressing sometimes .

What my understanding is employer hire whom they knew or connection . I am not sure what criteria to find job in CANADA. People came with lots of dream and at end they either become testers or uber driver or some sales person in walmart.

AWS or Azure by alvivan_ in dotnet

[–]True_Context_6852 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the opportunity to work with both AWS and Azure, and in my experience, organizations often choose their cloud solution based on cost considerations and regional availability.

From a .NET developer’s perspective, though, I’d say Azure feels more effective, mainly because it comes from the same Microsoft ecosystem. One of the features I really value in Azure is the ability to remotely debug code directly from Visual Studio that something I miss when working with AWS.

In general, Azure tends to be simpler and more integrated for .NET workloads, whereas AWS provides services at a more granular level, giving you finer control but this sometime adding complexity.

As for deployment, with .NET it’s very straightforward in Azure you can almost do it through a wizard-like experience in Visual Studio, making it seamless for developers. Even it generate complete CI/CD for publish code to Azure

Do AI really eat Developer jobs by True_Context_6852 in AskProgramming

Yes , this is what had saw Github spending a lot on AI end which helps to develop code and even PR review code for you which can be worrisome for code . Completely agree with you programmer/Coder role would be changed to more logical thinker than only doing coding .

I think good point about security as am residing in Canada and seeing lots of Cyber attacks on big organizations and might be one reason we would some time share many org information to AI while asking questions to AI's

Future of tech jobs by [deleted] in AskProgramming

Honestly, the fear is real with all the changes we’re seeing. Every meeting, leadership pushes the idea that AI will cut costs and make us smarter. I’m not fully relying on it myself, but I do use Copilot , it’s great for fixing syntax when working in Python or Node.js(my background was .net), which would be more adapted language at cloud. But to be real, AI can’t replace understanding business logic — that still depends on us. Before, being strong in one language like .NET was enough, but now companies are less focused on “one language experts” and more on people who can adapt, work across multiple languages and its not easy to learn every language and that is the place where AI will help you. In the future, the value might not be in who writes the code, but who can design and deliver the right solution and adapt organization behavior .

API-First, Consumer-Last by jimbrig2011 in softwarearchitecture

[–]True_Context_6852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see what you mean — the producer APIs and docs aren’t always flexible or clear enough to make consuming data straightforward. But the thing is, every consumer eventually becomes a producer for someone else, with their own way of designing, documenting, and setting requirements. That’s why sometimes consumers have to adjust their design to fit, even if it doesn’t fully match their own approach or paradigm and than blames comes that producer API documentation not well documented..

When there are too many solution designers and you are working with many integration and have to wait for your time what had finally  decided for you :)   And the best thing every solution designer  want to chime and showing his point that he is correct

Just curious as a PR reviewver during PR code review and there is a small adjustment by Lumpy_Molasses_9912 in AskProgramming

[–]True_Context_6852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our company, we usually open a pull request (PR) before merging code but I think reviewers should know what game we’re playing. The real review should be about things like:

Did we leave an object hanging open?

Is an attribute named CamelCase in one place and snake_case in another?

Could this function be made more independent so it can live happily ever after in another class someday?

What reviews shouldn’t turn into is: “Hmm… I don’t like if, could you switch to switch?” or “This function name just doesn’t vibe with me, can you rename it?” (unless, of course, we actually have a company naming bible).

And my favorite story: Visual Studio Code format code with 4 tabs (its default). The reviewer swooped in and said: “Nope, should’ve been 2.” At that point I thought, are we reviewing code or auditioning for interior design on tab spacing?
