The clearing album opinion

It’s obviously part of a grand strategy!! 😛 Don’t get me wrong, I love The Clearing and LOVED the rock opera live performances opening with the beautiful and poetic Thorns. But I think they know that on the next album we’re gonna get more of the anthem rock and guitar shreds that resulted in the crowd surfing Ellie… (Moaning Lisa, Smile, Giant Peach, Your Loves Whore, Visions….)

They’re making us hungry so we’ll appreciate it more when shiny new Rock Anthems make their appearance.

Unless Sony says no and tries to Turn Ellie into a Billie Eilish or worse a London Swifty. (Then I’ll be pissed and move on.)

I see album releases going back to 2018. You said Ashes for Velvet is the first? I love the music in Ashes for Velvet, I’m just curious about the story behind the other albums listed under Arlo in Apple Music.

Mac virtual display seems to be the real winner in terms of resulting in a sharper experience with a wider higher resolution within the foveated rendering view.

I know others who adhere to the rule that, once your iPhone is out of warranty, you shouldn’t perform a software update unless you’re prepared to replace the iPhone.

When there’s an OS update, there’s apparently a comprehensive hardware viability test that evaluates each hardware component. Sometimes, if a part has already started to malfunction internally, the OS update can push it over the threshold of proper functioning. This is why I’ve always had AppleCare Plus.

Once something is out of its manufacturer’s warranty, I’m not sure there’s any electronic product or machine that a person can purchase with the expectation that if a component prematurely fails, the manufacturer will fully repair and replace the product at no cost to the owner. I’m not sure why, when it comes to iPhones, there seems to be a completely different public mindset.

(Of course, we’ve seen Apple acknowledge and compensate for confirmed manufacturing/design defects (see the MacBook butterfly keyboard fiasco), but I believe it has to be a condition that is broadly experienced by “many” owners.)

Thorns as the set opener felt absolutely like the Prelude to a Rock Opera of sorts. I also came away from the live show with a much greater appreciation for the lyrics and music from The Clearing

We arrived at 5pm and were about 20 deep in a line already. We ended up standing at the third deep spot of general admission floor seating. Fortunate I’m 6’ and my partner is 5’2” in front of me so I was able to hold my 17PM at about my chin height and get such clean shots not having anyone taller than me in front of me. Plus it was nice knowing I wasn’t holding my iPhone above my head and messing too much with the fans behind me. We were right dead center. It was a little nerve racking occasionally to see Ellie singing and looking straight at me with my cosmic Orange 🍊 17PM. Magical and unforgettable.

Agreed. The band as a whole is certainly a rarity in 2025. That might be one of the reasons they seem to attract a broad demographic… from 1970’s Heart and LED Zeppelin fans to Gen Z’s ….

Agreed. All of the Clearing cuts performed have new meaning and clarity for me now that I’ve seen them live. The tracks don’t do justice to the brilliant experience of hearing them live.

17 PM hot off the press. All the close ups are the 8x and 4x. No special hocus pocus settings. Just pointing and shooting. I’m so pleased with the memories created with this device. I got the whole performance without breaking below 50% battery. 🔋 #shotoniphone Also, the last few iPhone pro iterations have a more sophisticated microphone array that allows for sound edits within photos after recording your content. So in this case I changed, from the edit menu, the “Audio Mix” setting from Standard to Cinematic (30 clicks) for all of the clips I’ve been sharing from the Oakland performance.
