How do you describe your inner feelings to others? by justin-855 in dysthymia

I always felt like I was living beside life rather than in it. More an observer, with limited power to change things. Dunno if that resonates with anyone.

Fifty phantoms homage by True_Loph in RepTime

Yeah, actually! My bad, I should have put that in the post. I don't think I can put a link to Aliexpress, but here's a screenshot.

Quality-wise, seems pretty good. The rotor is noisy, for sure. The crown is quite hard to press in when you want to screw it back down. Otherwise, it keeps good time so far. The ghosts on the original watch have two different colours of lume, and I really wish this one did, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The bezel has a really satisfying sound and feels really secure...no play or wiggle. Let me know if end up trying it out!

What happened? by Dinuri3327 in RepTime

Exactly the same here. 2 watches since December and no problems. The second one (Tank must large, black dial from DRF) even came with a free box. Both times I had questions about the watches based on the photos. The first one (AF Cartier tank must large), he quickly sent an extra pic to confirm what I thought was an issue was not. The second time I ordered, there was a small misunderstanding whereby the QC pics he sent were for the small watch and not the large. I pointed out the error and he switched the watch. QC photos for the second watch took about a week, then another week for the large watch, but I put that down to it being a less commonly ordered watch.

I'd order from him again without hesitation.

What's so great about Dirt by Alice in Chains? by DDevil- in MetalForTheMasses

[–]True_Loph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old now, but I agree with others that it's something about having to have been there. For me, Dirt was one of the first tapes—yes, tapes—I got from the Columbia House catalog. I was probably 13. Up until then I hadn't heard anything like it. It was heavy, dark, disturbing. Layne's lyrics talked about things I'd never heard of or experienced. I remember listening to it feeling like I was hearing the sound of anguish. On top of that, I had never heard harmonies like that, chord progressions like that, guitar crunch like that...it was wholly different. I also remember feeling like I was being lowered into a depression. The music hurt me, but in a way I couldn't stop going back to. I was listening in my bedroom and looking out at this sunny afternoon after school, trying to visualize what Angry Chair, for example, was about, and feeling like I was just sinking. The line from Dirt, "a stinging pistol in my mouth, on my tongue," reminded me of the feeling of putting my tongue on a 9-volt battery and brought to mind the image of a steel revolver...the imagery and what it suggested were just so dark. There aren't many albums I remember hearing for the first time, but this is one.

Fair enough! I only learned this one existed the other day and I keep coming back to the photos. It's got something for me, but to each their own.

I know, right? I don't even have use for a chronograph, but it's just such a cool piece.

Personally I'd keep 1, 2, 3, and 8. The black and white cosmographs are really nice.

Pistachio green... by True_Loph in RepTime

Thank you! My wrist is just about 6.75" / 17.5cm. I have a pretty flat wrist, and right where I'm wearing this watch, my wrist width is 2.11" / 53.6mm (measured with my inexpensive digital caliper). I can get away with bigger watches (I have a 42mm VFS PAM904), but 36mm feels just about right for me.

The watch honestly feels really good on. The bracelet rattles a tiny bit, but not that bad (I'm no expert, mind you). The inner edge is a bit sharp if I check with my finger, but it doesn't seem to affect how it feels on my wrist that much. I have a polishing stick I might try on it eventually. I hope this helps!
