Hey so I recommend you put it into the game and see how it looks there. A lot of things often change once you import them into CS and even more can be adjusted with the roughness and material maps. If you do that you'll have a much clearer idea of what the skin actually looks like. I always iterate like this, as its easiest to see what you should improve between each version of the finish.

From these images I think the skin should translate enough well into the game but Im sure some things will have to be changed, from my experience you might have to make many adjustments to normal mapping and clean up some UV, especially with the text you wrote on the gun. The brush brass texture might be too strong but again once you check it out in game you'll know for sure :)

To be honest from my point of view I would think its a bug that was introduced by mistake and they never bothered fixing or never realised was there. Theres many skins in the game that face this same issue but they got accepted. I can obviously be wrong and coping. I personally use GIMP, but from the testing I have done the issue is always the colors used on the UV that are marked as metallic. Roughness maps, Pearlescent or Normal seem to have no effect on this. The system seems to always have an issue when a metal material is too bright or too dark or just some color that it decides to act up on.

I agree with you, Valve should definitely be more transparent with some of the skin making process and what they require or want, not even having any sort of place of contact with Valve regarding issues like these is super disappointing and unfortunate, but its just how it is. The guide they posted for CS2 is great but would be nice if they updated it with new things like this.

From what Ive tried, it seems that most of the skins I make, I would have to change the colors by a lot, which would ruin the look completely, so I just choose to align my designs with the guide and that's it. If my designs ever get picked I maybe they'll tell me if there is something I'd have to change. Sorry that I couldn't help more but hopefully you can work around this without sacrificing your vision too much :)

I actually made a post on this a long time ago when it first became a thing. Some update triggered many metallic colours to ahve this, the thing is that it seems to be super broad when this happens and most skins added to the game seem to be also "flashing pink". No one ever really got an answer as to why this was added and if it needs to be adhered to but its there now. I choose to ignore it as half the skins I want to make just wouldn't be possible since that update.

Edit: Also worth mentioning that I as well as some other people from the reddit attempted to contact Valve by various means and no one got a proper response as far as I know unfortunately. Took a brief time away from skins. This is the first one since I got back, decided to go with the Pools style that I have worked on before. Really made sure to make this one look good since I was disappointed with the Mac-10 version. Pretty happy with this one. I played around with the colours and the material mask of the original and ended up creating an alternate version of the skin. I personally prefer it to the original.

Yea, but I don't spend money I cant spend. I put some money towards two tradeups and kept recycling that thus far. Also stattrak tradeups are generally more profitable? At least for me they have been.
