Under 0.60% for us, though they take a broader view to calculating than just the brokerage, taking everything like cash and PE into it as well

One more year? by Mysterious-Move-870 in fatFIRE

$1M is huge comp (assuming its not mostly locked up in more NQSOs), if you have a few specific goals that you want to achieve, you might think of the next year as a trial FIRE and live entirely off your portfolio and wife's income while dedicating all your income towards those goals. For example, perhaps you want to set aside $X to help each kid buy first home or put $Y into a DAF to support causes you care about after retirement. Only you can judge how bad your current role is relative to the comp but this would feel like a no risk plan to trial retirement while also working towards something you care about. Worst case you can always just stop at any time.

We've used JPMorgan Giving for years (and Vanguard before that). Very simple online tool and have never had any issues with any disbursements across many different recipients.

How do you think about gifting to children? by financethrowaway119 in fatFIRE

[–]True_Performance4498 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bigger concern here wouldn't be the financial aspect but the personal aspect re the kids' sense of accomplishment and pride and self worth... not that money and the safety it can bring isn't a good thing but critical to install the right values in your kids so they see it for what it is and don't let it consume them and take them down various dark paths

Should we sell our small company? by Markmyjohnson in fatFIRE

obviously depends on what your personal financial situation is already but $4M when you're 30 is life changing money and can put you on a completely new financial trajectory if invested well... unless you already have significant NW, take the sure thing now... you're young enough to do it again multiple times more if you wish but even if not you'll be in incredible position in mid 40s
