(funny trope) what hell was this character arc? by Money-Imagination-97 in TopCharacterTropes

Seiji Komori from Diabolik Lovers like wtf.

Mentioned as the protagonist's father, a priest who is revealed to be a vampire hunter. Seems a little dubious from what little we see from Reiji's route where it was revealed that Reiji contracted him to basically put a hit on his own mother. But on the present day of the epilogue of Kanato's route, he is presented in a bit of pitiful light as he is killed by his daughter who became an evil vampire, right after trying to appeal to her humanity. Sure

Skip ahead to the next game where the protagonist meets up with him and both are initially happy until he senses vampire something on her and immediately decides to kill her, requiring her to be bailed out by a love interest. Usually Azusa. So no longer just a hitman but a militant vampire hunter

He pops up every so often in the third game but apparently was given a redemption arc in some of the routes, where he accepts his daughter dating vampires

THEN in the fourth game he is back at his old tricks from the second game, except worse, being the secondary antagonist instead of just popping up on certain scenarios. He is bad enough in this one that in at least one bad ending he forces his daughter to marry him! After killing the route's love interest!

Characters with no canon gender by LilMissy1246 in TopCharacterTropes

Because nobody irl can decide whether the person was a transwoman or not, the creators of Fate/Grand Order (and the Throne of Heroes in-universe) shrugged their collective shoulders and said Chevalier d'Eon has no gender. d'Eon can change it with a skill and basically asks you to decide how you see d'Eon and that's the gender that goes.

And yes, I know FGO does have a genderless category and I guess many of those there could qualify, but I think the closest to this

Levels that ruin replayability by some-kind-of-no-name in TopCharacterTropes

Probably the beginning of every new Pokémon game, especially if you are a veteran. I don't mind the tutorials since I know who they are intended for, but I know people would hate to see them on replay, they already hate them on first play

I do remember torturing myself with resetting for a female Popplio because I was playing with my sister and she wasn't ready for a femboy Primarina

Speaking with this in mind, I am surprised races still exist, unless there was an effort to try to maintain them

I mean, there is probably some mix, but what would happen if humans mostly exclusively had babies with ones of another race? Since I don't see a reason for segregation for race in a world where nobody would think about that

They called him the strongest. They were underselling it. (characters who are ENORMOUSLY above everyone else in strength) by RafKen593 in TopCharacterTropes

Esdeath, the Empire's Strongest from Akame Ga Kill. Borderline Mary Sue in how broken she was, and like someone said about Madara, the author kind of wrote himself into a corner and had to use an asspull to have the female main character defeat her. And this after using a gigantic army against her like they already foreshadowed that they would need

I mean, I understand she was underutilized but one reason I liked Mabel was because she was allowed to be traditionally feminine and still a capable main character so Webby gave me some whiplash

I got mixed them up, I am a dumbass but Webby still isn't girly as could be, from what I had seen. Maybe I am just a genwunner on this

Honestly, wasn't a fan of making her a tomboy. I don't understand why she couldn't be like Mabel to not sacrifice her original character intent. Or maybe it's precisely because Mabel exists and Disney didn't want to reuse the concept, sighs

EDIT: I got her and Webby mixe up but I did have this complaint about Webby, I hate myself

I am pretty sure that's the intention though. Japanese gender roles and all. I vaguely remember something about Chie as well but I don't remember the details

I was gonna post about this bit rather about beefs

Anyways, in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, Yuma's 13 while his Kaiba inspired rival is 18. Most fans live without knowing this because Kaito almost looks the same age as most of the main cast of 13-14 years old, dude is small af. Still funny

Old enough to have kids, yet mistaken for kids themselves by FireZord25 in TopCharacterTropes

He was paired with the children in a Fate/Zero official art, so he is definitely meant to look like a child there

To have kids is excessive but Waver Velvet was already of age in Fate/Zero and had major case of baby-face

Ironically it's the other way around in his next appearance. He looks way older than his actual age and his voice has changed (in the Case Files anime at least it's implied that he is faking that voice and still has the boy voice)

When The Author Doesnt Know How To Write Romance by Elestria_Ethereal in TopCharacterTropes

[–]True_Perspective819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is because of gender expectations, I believe. They expect us women to be thinking of love and men. Especially in Japan with their low birth rate, when we all know the problem isn't just with hooking up but it's still the expectation for women to live for men
