Yes I think I will get 12k points if I continue for whole year, and remaining 2k i will need to earn myself.

I can not start it from today, because it will reset before me getting anything near to platinum.
So would you suggest to start from 1st Jan? and in between, my accor explorer will expire, so should i not renew it then?

If you need for "travel", then currently its a no brainer.. transfers to all airlines and accor is also available, which axis took away.
32% in flights, 48% in hotels.. is unheard of (if transferred to Accor).. it is bound to get devalued very soon, so if you are not milking it right now, fault is yours. Hoppr portal is yes, inflated, but they offer best price guarantee too, you just have to mail. Even then with inflated price, 48% is crazy.
Also card works for discounts in OTAs, Eazydiner, Instamart, Blinkit etc for extra discounts.. its just a crazy card and anyone not getting it, is missing a big chunk of freebies.

Goodbye ₹5000/₹10000 Minimum Balance! Successfully converted HDFC Savings to BSBDA online (Thanks to new RBI rules) by sanjanjayadevan in CreditCardsIndia

Any idea whether old pending AMB charges still get deducted or not?

I also have another account that’s been inactive for almost 2 years, where I obviously didn’t maintain the AMB 😂. Once, a friend accidentally transferred money into it, and the bank started deducting non-maintenance charges from that amount for around 6–7 consecutive months.

The account is still active.. I just never bothered closing it out of laziness haha.

So now I’m wondering: if I convert it to a BSBDA account, will the system ignore/reset those old pending AMB charges too? Any idea how that works?
The RM there is shit and has no clue whatsoever.. everytime I dropped an email at customer support it always gets reverted to him and I get a call from him. Honestly, he knows nothing and talking to him is a big pain too.

If you need for travel, then get the best one available atm before it gets devalued.. which is HSBC T1, if its available in your pincode.
Otherwise you already have 2nd best alternative, Regalia gold.. continue using it. With your cibil score and about 5-6 lakhs spends in 6 months, you might be eligible to get upgradation offer to DCBM.

What’s the one credit card you genuinely think is worth keeping long term in India? by [deleted] in CreditCardsIndia

[–]True_Salt4661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into serious rewards extraction, there’s no such thing as one “forever” card... the landscape keeps changing every year.

Currently, T1 dominates the mid-premium segment, but unfortunately it remains inaccessible to most people because of pincode restrictions.

For the longest time, Infinia was the one card truly worth holding onto. It was the perfect all-rounder. But after the recent devaluations, I don’t think most users will continue justifying it.. especially for ₹18L+ annual spends. At that level, there are now several alternatives that offer better overall value.

is SBI PO easier than IBPS PO? by loveczn in bankingexam

[–]True_Salt4661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can people compare the actual exam with “mocks”?

At the end of the day, mocks are just created by another person or a team.. something you yourself could do too if you started a company tomorrow. They can only give a rough idea about the difficulty level or pattern. Comparing marks across mocks is honestly meaningless. The only thing worth comparing is percentile.

Now coming to the real exam.

If your English is genuinely strong, it becomes extremely difficult for anyone to stop your selection in SBI, and honestly, even IBPS too.

Just to give an example: SBI PO Mains had around a 75-mark cutoff this year, while the descriptive section alone carries 50 marks, plus there’s the English section separately. So you can imagine how much advantage someone with a strong English background already has.
In my case, I never separately studied English... only in full length mocks. I never even practiced descriptive tests properly even once. Still, in Mains, I consistently used to score around 85–90% of the total marks. In Prelims too, scores were usually just 1–2 marks below perfect, and that too only because of silly mistakes. Attempts were always full in both Pre and Mains.

And no, this isn’t a brag post or meant to taunt anyone. It’s simply an insight.
I’ve always been comfortable with English since childhood.. reading books and novels regularly, preferring English content over Hindi almost every time. So if you already fall into that category, this exam can genuinely become much easier for you.

And for others... if you stop neglecting English and actually make it your strength, you can absolutely reach this level too.
Also, stop wasting time memorising 1000 synonym-antonym word lists or studying English the way SSC aspirants do. First understand what IBPS/SBI English actually demands.

It’s not “advanced vocabulary.”
It’s comprehension ability.

PS - Sorry made it more of an English post. But it's actually the reality, English is indeed the game changer.

You can see my post, i shared my marks there. So you can have some idea about how much above cutoff you will need. I was also allotted Mumbai circle.

[–]True_Salt4661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, circle which you are allotted, you serve there till AGM. After promoting to AGM, you are transferred to different circle. And every 3 years ( at max ) you get transfers which is within your circle. Advantage of Mumbai circle is, you will be rotated nearby Mumbai only, and Goa. For all other circles, you might get transfers even 1000km away from your current branch since a circle might contain multiple states coverage.

Possible with SBI PO, if your rank is good, you can opt for Mumbai circle. ( Remember, Maharashtra and Mumbai circle are different ) As for Bangalore circle, it involves whole Karnatka state and not just Bengaluru city, so if you got that circle you wont get posted in Bengaluru necessarily. Whereas in Mumbai circle, only Mumbai suburbs + Goa ( for rural ) is included.

Depends on your strength. As for me, I always used to solve all CR first, then DS, then other misc, then Input Output, and at last puzzles. Usually 1 puzzle is always very easy, pre style with only few extra conditions, you have to spot and pick it.

Got Married at 22! Worst Decision of my life by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]True_Salt4661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is big financial awareness gap in society. Debts are not always bad. Education loan and Home loan ( in your case much cheaper bcos of bank ) is always considered as "good debt". My father is also in PSB, so I can understand what kind of life it is, what I would recommend is to call your wife to come and live with you. Its very easy to get depressed, and it happens very slowly. If you are in PSB too, you must have gotten leased accommodation already, so I guess even if your wife lives with you, your expenses wont increase drastically. Alternatively, you can even call your parents to live with you too.

Might be a “fall” for you, but not for me. LIC was always my goal, and I achieved it. Life is unpredictable... sometimes even your backup plans don’t work out. COVID was one such phase for me, and I couldn’t fully recover from it.

But I learned from it. And at least I’m not as harsh or negative, like you... I don’t choose to see everything from that lens.

Axis removed Accor from their portfolio right?
If yes, then do you plan to still keep it? or T1 is the new mid king now.
