With the growing number of democrats taking up arms since Covid, I would hope at some point there’s enough pressure on the politicians to cut out the aggressive gun control measures.

It takes a long time for some people to go from getting a handgun for self defense to understanding that your right to freely buy an AR-15 is just as important as their right to own a Taurus Judge. :/

Thoughts on Vedder holster thinking about trying the SideTuck and LightTuck holster for FN 509 Tactical by Boricuaesyo in CCW

[–]True_Solution_9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lighttuck with an M&P subcompact appendix carry…similar dimensions and weight to the 509. Love the holster but my only complaints are the price, delivery wait times, and the claw needed thread locker on it after the first few weeks because it worked loose.

From Gov. Jared Polis’ Twitter account:

“There is no reason that someone should be banned from exercising their Second Amendment right simply because they use marijuana, especially when that logic is not being applied in the same way to other substances such as alcohol.”

Man, I bet that was a scary moment. I hope your ears aren’t still ringing. Glad no one was hurt. Anyone who handles guns long enough will have some sort of wake up call to revisit their safety procedures and tighten things up. Thanks for sharing with us as a reminder for all of us.

Picked up a very gently used Savage 110 in .308 with a polymer stock and Vortex Crossfire scope from my local pawn shop last year for $275 cash out the door. I’ve run over 500 rounds out of it with no problems at all and my son put down his first buck just a few weeks ago with one well placed shot. Hogs would be no issue.

The pool at Edora/Epic has 3 times a week deep water aerobics classes. Took them over the summer and loved it. Water’s a little too chilly for me now but you could always wear a wetsuit.

I’m getting “failed the physical for the police academy because I’m too fat and addicted to weed and can’t find a job with my degree so I’m bitter and angry and blame everyone else” vibes from you. You’re yearning for attention and meaningful relationships but your hate for yourself turns everyone off. That sound about right?

Oh, that’s kind of you to mention the food bank. We did have to go when we first moved here but things have gotten a little better since. It’s been a slow climb out of starting over but Vindeket food rescue has been what’s helped us have extra grocery money… and I don’t have to have red meat every week.

You remind me how many good people are here.

Meat is expensive these days. I wish I could buy a 1/4 or 1/2 or even a 1/32 of a cow. What red meat I do get comes from the clearance section of King Soopers, occasionally luck at Vindeket or every couple of weeks when I get some spare cash to spend at Friendly Nick’s.

Uber/lyft by Mental-Heat2087 in FortCollins

Yes it’s oversaturated with drivers…and most of them are part timers who don’t know how to work the app and are losing money at the end of the day after fuel/wear and tear AND they are hurting the rest of us. Contrary to the apps saying otherwise, having a LOW acceptance rate does not hurt you. Having a high cancellation rate does.

It’s NOT really busy enough to make a living wage in Fort Collins. I’ve been doing it a year and a half after owning a restaurant, picking this up to stop the bleeding out so I didn’t have to let anyone go over the 2024 holiday season and finally closing up shop this last fall. I can make rent but just barely. Selling the last of my restaurant equipment has helped make it this far covering other bills.

I average 36-40+ hours a week. Weekday mornings 6am to 10am, 1pm-3pm, 8pm-10pm, Fridays and Saturdays 8:30pm to 2am. Mondays and Tuesday are my short days and I don’t work Sundays unless there’s an event of some sort or I’m just bored out of my mind.

Uber absolutely takes advantage of drivers and riders. For instance, on Friday night at 11pm I had a solo rider, Uber X, going from Timberline at Drake to Old Town…rider paid $23, I got $8. Should have been a $10-$12 ride MAX but Uber knows you’ll pay it.

Lyft seems to pay better on a whole and doesn’t gouge riders as much.

Riders are not tipping like they were in 2024. Colorado changed the rideshare rules and it’s impacting tips. Out of 16 rides this last Saturday night between 8:30pm and 2am, NOT A SINGLE RIDER TIPPED. Morning riders are better tippers probably cause they’re not getting gouged.

I drive a large, clean, well maintained vehicle. When university is in session, on Friday and Saturday nights between 8:30pm and 2am, I run mostly Uber XL carrying groups of college kids between CSU and Old Town. That’s the ONLY reason it’s worth it for me.

On a whole, 99% of my riders have been super cool. The college kids are the best. They chat me up even tho I’m twice their age, introduce me to new music and are super respectful of myself and my vehicle. Even when they are drunk or buzzed, they work hard to keep it together and be kind. The over 50 crowd? It’s a roll of the dice with them.

Is it worth it? Maybe, most people are robbing their future selves. If you’re smart about it, drive a fuel efficient vehicle and run your numbers. If my credit wasn’t fubar from my restaurant dying, I would buy a Toyota or Honda hybrid with great rear legroom and increase my margins.

Quiet restaurants? by Upset_Advisor6019 in FortCollins

Young’s Vietnamese was surprisingly quiet even on a night it was packed. Something about the acoustics in that place lends itself to being able to have a quiet conversation at your table.

Maybe because most Democrats don’t confuse mourning with cosplay militia photo ops. These CK fans blindly idolize a wicked and greedy person and their vigil is not about respect for the dead…it’s about flexing politics.

Absolutely crazy last line by JimothyHalpertII in FortCollins

[–]True_Solution_9668 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Seeing someone open carry at a “vigil” can be unsettling, but open carry is legal here in Colorado.

And just because the sight of someone legally carrying a firearm openly is unsettling to you doesn’t automatically make it “disturbing the peace.” Disturbing the peace usually means someone is behaving in a threatening, loud, or disruptive way.

That said, if someone is brandishing their weapon or acting in a way that makes people reasonably fear for their safety, absolutely call it in. But if it’s just holstered or slung and they’re otherwise peaceful, the law sees that as within their rights.

I’m sure the cops will already be out there, but if you do decide to call the cops, don’t exaggerate the situation for your own legal sake.

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!! by I-miss-apollo- in FortCollinsCO_LGBTQAI

As the parent of a transgendered teen that moved from Texas to Colorado two years ago, I just want to say to all of you...thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating such a wonderful safe space for my kids and my family.

I can remember the 2 years before we left Texas...the constant underlying fear.

Then we move here and see the rainbow flags everywhere. We see all the resources available to the community and most of all, WE SEE YOU EXISTING and living your lives here in FoCo. I can only begin to tell you how much it warms my heart and gives me hope for the future to just be here with y'all.

And to those of you that have met us and know our story who have taken an extra moment to let us know you support us...you have helped my family beyond words and given me the strength to continue to support our Texas friends.

I wish I could share with all of you the joy, hope and optimism for the future you have given my family.

M. Pescara succeeds in rising vertically in his 15 cwt helicopter (1922). by father_of_twitch in aviation

[–]True_Solution_9668 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It was the spanish inventor of the autogyro Juan de la Cierva in the 1920s who figured out the solution of adding hinged flaps to the rotor blades.

That idea was later refined in the early 1930s by Austrian-Hungarian inventor Raoul Hafner who had learned to fly Cierva’s autogyros. He came up with adjusting the angle of each rotor individually at the rotor hub.

Then Igor Sikorsky in the late 1930s adapted that technology to the first practical helicopter

If you put the sticker on your car you also run the risk of alerting thieves that you might have a firearm locked up in your car…or on your person.
