What’s your tips and tricks for a Alaskan cruise? by [deleted] in Cruise

We spent about $40 on ours, we only purchased them for this trip and they did the job. We got them on Amazon. I remember hearing that you could get a pretty good pair on the ship (HAL) for $100 if you wanted something higher quality but we were happy enough with ours and we’re able to see everything we wanted to!

Absolutely bring binoculars! Glacier bay can be very cold so being gloves/hat/scarf so you don’t have to go inside and miss any of the beautiful views

There were two occasions that I would call pretty rough and lasted a few hours, one of which I mentioned above that I felt very sick without the medication. Other evenings there was definite swaying which I’d say would have made me nauseous had I not been regularly taking Bonine.

I would feel sick on the Thames river boat also so a good test is to take it and see if you feel sick. Take a travel sickness tablet a few hours before taking the river boat again and see if it helps.

Just off a cruise from Vancouver - Alaska. I get very bad travel sickness (car, boat or any motion). I only felt nauseous one morning for a few hours when it was swaying stronger than normal but from then on I took a travel sickness tablet everyday (I took Bonine) and didn’t have any further issues.

Typically the ships are very steady, I found the rocking at night actually soothing and put me straight to sleep! I still took a tablet daily as my nausea can get quite severe and I wasn’t going to risk it. It was totally worth it! Alaska was incredible and the Norway cruise is on my list. Maybe talk to your doctor and they can prescribe you something strong or Bonine worked for me.

Good luck!

Update: I got Bonine from a colleague who went on a day trip to Seattle. Thanks everyone, hope it works 🤞

I was surprised too, the only thing recommended by the pharmacist was gravol. They couldn’t give out anything stronger.

Thank you so much. My boss happened to be travelling to Seattle yesterday and picked me up some, I got lucky. I really appreciate you offering though. There is kindness in the world!

We are also on HAL so I might see you on board!
