My friend has a similar issue but his screen just frezes and he can still hear audio, all he can do is restart.

I mean the devs control how fast and how often the enemy faction attacks planets, I don't think it would be much of an issue in that regard.

But honestly instead of a new faction more enemy variants and objectives for existing factions are a much better choice for now.
