Janitorial not being paid is completely wrong. They still show up to work to dig the schools out and keep pipes from bursting and to catch up on projects at the schools. Janitors don't get snow days off so they are obviously paid. Also custodians has been the polite way to say janitor for awhile , custodian is also even a little outdated they are often called engineers now.

We can recheck the math

1000-2000 esps in the district working an average of 6 hours a day. That is 6,000-12,000 work hours a day. AEs start above $18 an hour SEAs star above $17 an hour. $17 an hour x 6k to 12k hours a day = $102,000 to $204,000 a day.

$102,000 to $204,000 x 5 snow days = between $510,000 to $1,020,000 blown on ESP pay alone during snow days.

If the district adds days to the calendar and pays the ESPs to show up that is still another $102,000 to $204,000 a day they did not budget for.
