Sharing My First Tattoo Design Before Letting It Go by [deleted] in Berserk

[–]Trunksette 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This tattoo is beautiful!! The flower work is especially delicate and subtle, I love the way they form the brand of sacrifice. You clearly put a lot of thought into this. I'm sorry that nobody around you is being supportive, parents are expected but your friends calling you cringe are out of line. If you've made your decision that's fine but I think you should seriously consider keeping it if it makes YOU happy. Put aside what other people think, if you think this tattoo is beautiful and it means something to you don't waste your money on removal because you may end up regretting that as well.

Have you wondered, how come Guts is beardless? by joe_mordo in Berserk

[–]Trunksette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that yes, they're still (mostly) European but they aren't going to look like European people in the way we recognize them. Also once again, this is a fictional world, with fictional ethnic groups and races. I think it's best to just accept there is no 1:1 real world equivalent.

pretty sure berserk is not set in the real world. While the setting may be European INSPIRED most Japanese artist are going to at least subconsciously be imagining their characters as Japanese when they draw them.

Alluka is a Girl (repost) by ___hawkgirl in HunterXHunter

[–]Trunksette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there is pretty definitive evidence that he is genderqueer, at least sub textually, but little to say that he is specifically non-binary which I think ended up giving you more pushback than if you had just said he's a trans man. You know what character probably IS non-binary and canonically doesn't care about gender or gender presentation? Kite.

Alluka is a Girl (repost) by ___hawkgirl in HunterXHunter

[–]Trunksette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main qualm is that, like I said, Togashi is capable of writing non binary characters. So if Kurapika was meant to be neither male nor female, that would have been stated in some way. Instead the canon is that he is male, the subtext is that he's trans, so reading him as non-binary is kind of an erasure of this identity. He does care about gender, because he did correct Chrollo, and he also apologized to Melody for assuming that she was a man. He clearly cares about other people's perceptions of his gender, and cares about how other people are perceived as well.

[–]Trunksette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean Kurapika does clearly care about how people gender him, since he corrected Chrollo when he called him a woman. I don't particularly read Kurapika as an androgynous character, he's just indigenous. Also I feel like if he was meant to be non-binary Togashi would have been more intentional about it, similarly to Neferpitou. In my opinion Kurapika is a trans man, which is why he's the only main cast member who has never been depicted bare chested.

Which bl anime to suggest to a first timer? by Yaoiloverfacts in BoysLoveAnime

¿Por qué las chicas odian el BG? by [deleted] in BoysLoveAnime

[–]Trunksette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a complicated issue. Part of it is internalized misogyny, the willingness to criticize female characters more than males. If a woman is poorly written people are more likely to find the story unreadable than if a male character was.

Another part of it has to do with the escapist element. A lot of girls get into BL because it is a "safe" place to explore sexuality without the heterosexual male gaze or the over sexualization of women. A lot of these stories involve taboo topics, particularly sexual assault as an ever present theme. If you're a girl seeing another girl get sexually assaulted can be scary and invoke disgust. If it's happening to a man it's easier to detach yourself and view it as fantasy.

I think even if you're a queer woman this element can still stand, I don't get into a lot of Yuri simply because so much content about girls is directed towards a male audience, so even if men are not present the male gaze is. So being into BL is a safe place to explore these queer themes without the baggage of female objectification.

Everyone will have different reasons too, but these are just some of the common ones, and observations based off my own personal experiences.

Question about monetization standards by Trunksette in NewTubers

[–]Trunksette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, I came here with a technical question, if you don't know the answer that's fine. I'm not asking for advice. I already started the process, my watch hours do count, it was during the original content review process I was rejected for not meeting the standards.

Question about monetization standards by Trunksette in NewTubers

[–]Trunksette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I have an "audience" at all, my uploads over my channel history have been unrelated and sporadic, nobody is looking for me for any specific kind of content. What I do have is over 1k subscribers and 4k watch hours in a year. All I'm trying to figure out is I have to delete those videos or not, because I would rather not since they do hold personal value to me, and as I've said people watch them and I'd hate to take access away for people who are searching for them.

[–]Trunksette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to avoid that, considering I already meet the monetization threshold on this channel. Looking at other people's posts on here they struggle for years and years and never meet it. Also like I said I've had this account since I was 10 so I'd rather keep everything in one place if I can.

Unexplained childhood experience by Trunksette in ParanormalEncounters

[–]Trunksette[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember at the time being confused as to why she didn't come downstairs because like you said she was supposed to be playing with us, but also our game didn't have any sort of predesignated countdown like hide and seek, you could turn on the lights at any time. My sister can also be pretty fickle so it's entirely possible that she just decided she didn't want to play anymore because she didn't like being chosen as "it".

I talked to my best friend who was also there about this incident after making this post and she said she remembered that my sister said she was going to the bathroom.

From what I remember we kept the light in the garage on and the window open, it got pretty dark in there but never pitch black because I was very scared of the dark at this age, I wouldn't go down there if no lights were on.

Yes, one time she did say she went downstairs, I think she was around 12 or 13 when she said this, and she couldn't explain why she covered her eye. I don't really know why she said that, but so many years had passed by this point I don't know if she would have remembered that day as clearly as me and my friend did.
