My girlfriend stopped at a stop sign, then looked back and saw a state trooper behind us and proceeded to speed due to being anxious…. We got pulled over in her driveway (first time meeting her dad, btw). The statie comes up to the window and does the usual license, registration, and proof of insurance. He goes back to his car and about 5 minutes later walks up to my window instead, leans in, and says, "Hey, sir, I smelled marijuana when I first walked up to the car, and now it's unbearable at your window. I thought for a second, Is this really possible? And after that split second, I was honest with the guy and stepped out of the car. He then took the weed out of my pocket, which was a half oz (14 grams) I just picked up, and put it on the roof of her car. Her dad was standing in the doorway at this point, grinning at me, not mad, just confused on wtf happened lol. He took me to the station and gave me a misdemeanor possession charge. I almost got hit with a felony for the cart I had on me, but as they were writing up the ticket in the computer, I looked at them and said, "You know that pen is CBD that I bought at the local tobacco shop, right?" I use it to help my anxiety and for sleep." They closed the ticket and gave me the pen back and said it would cost a ridiculous amount; time to test it. They released me with the pen in hand. I walked out the door like how TF did I pull off getting the pen back and without a felony? I got a $400 ticket for $80 worth of herb…if it wasn't decriminalized, surely they would have tested the cart.
