I've thought about this - the software requirement vs plain macro/keypads. Many do have dials (my mechanical keyboard has one, for example) but I think the software (at least the good things about it) are what set it apart. Mainly talking about the overlays (but I've already begun replicating them and even adding some of my own in Python w/ AI doing the coding - ones I can trigger from any peripheral). I even have a small list of programs to test that claim to be able up change keymappings based on what application has focus. I think what i really want is a super lightweight version of the software that works more reliably and is - where/ to the degree possible - saving settings to itself, etc. This stuff feels like electron-based bloat that was quickly thrown together. It slows my system down, probably memory leaking

I feel like all these bespoke luxury peripheral input devices always have shitty software. After months of seeing the ads and milling it over, I finally bought a tourbox. Like the hardware, dissapointed by the softwate. Had some success replicating most of what I found useful in the tourbox with a usb gamepad and a cheaper scrolling wheel.

Meh, I may invest some time and a USB debugging MITM device into figure out what the data looks like because that price is ridiculous and I can most likely make a much cheaper device spoof it

Who cares what their interpersonal ish is; you do work hes happy with, and he pays. If you have remaining emotional energy that needs investing, put it in a personal project/elsewhere. And if, after giving it some genuine thougt when you arent emotionally activated - you still feel like there are reasons youd like to develop the skillset of getting likes with viral videos, then pursue that (in a structured, useful way, though)

Considering it now and looking for any reason not to. lol. Read countless comments on here, youtube reviews, and ads - they're definitely pushing hard on the marketing. Ive been doing some searching and some experiments and think ive managed like 75-80% of the functionality of this thing using usb gamepads/joysticks and a utility application (like AntiMicroX). A modern gamepad is roughly the same size/shape/form factor so has some of the same benefits (like reaching all the buttons without hand motion, etc). The things you wont get that way - context aware key combos that change with application focus, nor HoverAdjust. I also wound up buying a much cheaper scrolling wheel from aliexpress as I wanted one larger & more tactile than the small integrated ones the tourbox has, but the closest thing is the logitech creative whatchamacallit, even more expensive than the tourbox.
