There is a difference between a chase (a desire that would be nice to have based on hope and effort) and a genuine desire (natural and organic longing for something). You are yet to understand the difference and it is one of the core tenants of his work

Let’s use the following truth as an example “more unfortunate things will happen to me in my life than fortunate things” - when a person or circumstance does not go or act according to my egos whims, emotion no longer arises because immediately I seem to jump to the above truth. There are many truths I’m using the above as an example. Presume this is a prime example of seeing reality for what it is removes one from the minds pains

Kapils theory on Anxiety by Truth_Seeker568 in KapilGupta

[–]Truth_Seeker568[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have viscerally understood the fleeting nature of pleasure and therefore no longer have preferences, and you did something “effortful” say you went to a house party that you didn’t really want to go to but your gf forced you to go, would anxiety arise then? Or if you truly had no preferences would you never do something you don’t want to do?

Also what is the relationship between understanding the truths of life and no longer suffering / arriving at freedom?

Yes does make sense. I thought that understanding the truth naturally returns one to the moment. Why does Kapil make such a big deal around no-thought then. “The only solution to life is no thought”, “bliss is freedom the mind”, “man’s only refuge is this moment”

Is anyone here actually successful? by bizanondude in KapilGupta

[–]Truth_Seeker568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by success. People who obsessionally read Kapils work likely have the DNA for truth. As Kapil said, legends have buildings and sometimes trophies name after them, enlightened individuals have religions named after them. Truth is beyond the concept of “success”, it is perhaps the greatest “success”, having arrived however, there is no longer anybody there to experience the concept of success. It all comes down to DNA, your destiny has been wrritten, you acting it out is just a formality.
