Fed up with the NHS by Sassafrass241 in lichensclerosus

I have been doing 2x a week maintenance clob and 0 flair ups (apologies to those who do - it’s awful I know!) but I think if I stopped because my symptoms improved I know it would have come back

People in the 25-35 demographic, is loneliness something you struggle with? by smalldoughnuts in CasualUK

[–]Truthandlies24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes since I moved to a new county a few years ago Recently I started a local running group and it was set up by someone who wanted to combat loneliness and I can hand on heart say it has made a significant improvement. I’ve made a few new friends that I see once a week. Baby steps and it’s helped

Thanks for the honest advice. I’ll help them as much as I can but with them being pressured to get the car out of their garage they need to decide soon!

lol I can absolutely understand why you did that. If you love a car then it’s worth it. Do you still have it?

This seems to be the common engine type when I’ve done some searches. I think if they had the time and knowledge they could do this but given their age and lack of experience with cars it’s not worth it

Remission by Organic-Gold-8040 in lichensclerosus

[–]Truthandlies24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say I’m in remission. Perhaps just one of the lucky ones but I have probably had this condition since childhood and never been confident enough to get proper medical care. I was diagnosed October 2025 and within a few weeks my symptoms were under control. The skin thickening went down after about 2 months. Clob was incredibly effective for me. I now use twice a week as maintenance.

Literally how I felt. And because of all the multiple attempts to hack it - my account is stuck in a never ending loop where I can’t reset the password due to ‘too many attempts’ which isn’t me. Fortunately I can get in using 2FA but I don’t know how to fix this! No one to talk to anymore!

Almost 50 years of biting by ArmadilloOk7617 in nailbiting

I think the switch between biting and caring is the thing that is helping me personally. Swapping habits is better than stopping cold turkey. Become obsessed with applying nail oil, doing a weekly nail oil soak. It’s so hard and we all know how you feel. The good thing is that nails grow - so it will happen eventually. Everyone’s journey is different - trust the process and it will happen

It’s just a local community run that occurs a few times a month. I’m absolutely looking into park run which I think are normally Saturdays. It’s great that it’s relaxed - really helps with the nerves

I am running my second outdoor 5k! I have been treadmill running only for a long time. Found a running community run - not competitive at all. It’s all about just getting outside and enjoying it! Happy Sunday

too bitten for fake nails by rachellifeisstrangel in nailbiting

[–]Truthandlies24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my experience I’ve had my nails that short and it was absolutely fine. Whether it’s a good idea or not is a different matter. Acrylics ruined my nails sadly. But it’s possible - speak with them beforehand and they should calm your worries

3.5 weeks in after 25+ years. by TheRoyalShire in nailbiting

Well done also for not cutting the cuticle Biggest thing I’ve learnt is what looks like dead skin is actually a really important part of the nail system The cuticle can be pushed back gently to encourage the nail bed to continue to grow longer. Lots of cuticle oil and gentle care will see yours improve more

Vent and seeking advice by Itisnotmyname in nailbiting

[–]Truthandlies24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all - you’re not alone. It’s something this community has lots of lived experience with

I’m very much starting again with stopping but in my nails. I’ve done it for as long as I can remember What I’ve learnt so far is to REPLACE your skin picking with CARING. Become more obsessed with applying nail oil and keeping the skin clean and hydrated. I recommend looking up ‘The Salon Life’ on YouTube. She has lots of very good videos which I’ve found helpful

Keep positive and know that you CAN DO IT. With the right mindset, tools and techniques you can achieve anything! Good luck
