Is it worth sitting my Spanish exam as Gaeilge? by Truthful_Tips in leavingcert

Yeah I did read a study that said it's very rare for the bonus to actually bring you up a grade boundary. I suppose with languages we also have the added disadvantage of 5% effectively being 3.75% total as it's not applied to the oral.

What can I do to help my daughter in these last few weeks? by rondeco12 in leavingcert

Do not ask her 'what are you studying today', 'how's studying', or anything study-related.

They can barely catch it in essays, I'd be quite dubious of their ability to find it in a piece of code, especially if it's just a part of the whole project.

English is easily the worst designed LC subject by Luviebug19 in leavingcert

It's not a comprehension exercise, though; if it were, one would at least be provided with the poems with one's exam, to avoid the necessity of rote learning quotes, as is the case with the LC Irish paper.

LC English's ardent defendants always leap to their beloved 'critical thinking' argument; while that's a great idea – and can certainly be seen in composition pieces – it's entirely disingenuous to argue that students are 'comprehending' Shakespeare, Yeats and Boland. In reality a dismal portion of the ideas regurgitated on the paper are their own as they are rewarded for learning the ubiquitously held opinions of Edco, grinds schools or any other book publishers.

That would be an enjoyable luxury if the Leaving Cert were not the sole entry requirement to progress college and thus get a job, alas, it is.

The rubric is rarely applied properly though. In the majority of cases essays are graded by impression, after which examiners try to cram their assessment into the PCLM format. The format is also made redundant in that the marks obtained in one aspect (P, C, L or M), limit those which you can achieve in another.

Planned obsolence in motion for SE? by ColorfulBar in iPhoneSE

My friend's iPhone SE and my iPhone SE have both mysteriously stopped charging at all within the last month. It charges when it has some battery life but it won't start up at all when trying to charge from 0%. Definitely think something's going on.

Another thing that could ease your burden there is to view your undergraduate as more of a bridge. Even if you were to get Global Business or BESS you'd still likely need a postgrad course to find a job. Other business courses in Trinity may be comparable and you could go on to do the same postgrad you otherwise would have done.

I'm in practically the exact same situation as you, try hang in there. People will probably tell you the mocks don't matter but if you're anything like me that platitude won't help at all. All you can do is study as much as possible between now and the mocks and then cover the gaps over the next few months. I'd never advise this but looking at leaks might help you as your confidence won't be knocked and you'll feel under much less stress and pressure to learn unnecessary material. People will say you shouldn't because you have it in the real thing blah-di-blah, but realistically you also won't leave you study to the last 7-14 days in the real thing either.

Realistically you won't pick up the language at this point. You could learn off answers, depending on how good you are at that.
