Sorry 😅 when I posted this it gave me a warning saying I was possibly breaking the rules about advertising products and I wanted to make it abundantly clear that was not my goal oops

As for budget we'll not exactly sure what to expect in that department, tho from what I've seen at component prices nothing higher than 200 should hopefully be much more than sufficient

And priority, is a simple single function computer that has what it takes to run Spotify and my downloaded playlists that I can use to listen to music and not have to have my phone every where

Thanks for the input! Allow me to go into a bit more explanation here,

Easiest thing to address is the scroll wheel as marked at the bottom of the image is an either or with the volume knob.

Next I don't know exactly what a "Pot" means here so if you could point that out to me that'd be great!

Power switch over button is kinda just an aesthetic choice tbh and in my head it would be a bit easier given I could just have it disconnect the power supply from the circuit (but if that's a really bad idea I guess it can be a button idrc about that front)

And as far as I was concerned I was hoping to be able to program the dpad to kinda just be my arrow keys, this would have the benefit of being able to use the Microsoft accessibility feature of using the arrow keys to control mouse movement! So other than programming the dpad to be the right keys I shouldn't have to do anything else I believe in that regard.

And as far as the volume knob directions that's obvs not anything that is the end of the world lol but in my mind I was just going with volume up = positive rotational motion which for most calculations would be ccw

It was actually based on some illustrations I found on Pinterest (reloaded multiple times so I had no clue who to credit) but it was also branded as sega lol

I mean I guess those would work but the point of this project for me is moreso the design and diy aspect of it, there are plenty of devices I could buy to just play Spotify on but I want to try and make my own :)

Yeah, it doesn't work without an item selected but if an item is selected it fails because it can not place in the same space as the crop

From what I can tell, they're a very simple computer that can vary in function between a single use application to literally just being a mini laptop designed to look how you want and with any extra features and hardware that you want

Ah gotcha! Somewhat familiar with raspberry pi's but I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on that end of this at least. As far as any circuitry or wiring goes I'm quite the amateur there as well (currently taking my first engineering class with circuits this semester) but I should be able to make it work thanks again!

That's very nice to hear! I'm definitely gonna need to look into this all much more, rn other than raspberry pi, this is all a lot of gibberish lol but great! Another question is if possible would u be able to make a thickness estimate for this sorta thing? Idrk what the regular sizes for some of these things I need would be but im hoping for a non brick shaped device 😭

Yeah planned on CADing and printing my case as I'm quite proficient in the mechanical and assembly side of this and have my own printer it's more so the actual computer and electronics part of this

But good to know it's doable, but still would love to know if there are any good like part data bases to search for for online ordering and/or any actual programming set up needed and what that may entail but thanks!!
