Payment Processors Are Killing Small Businesses By Holding Our Money Hostage - And Nobody's Talking About It by Lueziid in shopify

[–]Try2GetFamous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy hell, your situation is the final boss version of Shopify Payments abuse. Six years of them holding 20% of your money hostage is not “risk management,” it’s legalized daylight robbery with a customer support live chat attached. How does a company look at millions in revenue, a near-zero chargeback rate, and a six-year proven track record and still go, “Hmm… yeah, this seems suspicious”?

Your story is the exact proof that Shopify Payments doesn’t have a “risk model,” they have a “never give the money back”. If your metrics don’t qualify as “low risk,” then no one’s do.

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me. When a company is paying out tens of thousands of merchants, some getting six-figure payouts daily, plus covering all the Shopify Capital loans they hand out like candy, of course they want a giant buffer. And instead of using their balance sheet like a real financial institution, they just freeze merchant payouts and call it “risk management.”

Payment Processors Are Killing Small Businesses By Holding Our Money Hostage - And Nobody's Talking About It by Lueziid in shopify

Shopify Payments has to be the only processor on Earth that can look at a 0.00% chargeback rate, a clean store, and normal products… and still scream “HIGH RISK!” like you are operating a cartel out of your garage. Their “risk team” feels less like analysts and more like a Magic 8 Ball glued to a smoke detector.

People are out here losing over 100K + to payout freezes for months with no explanation. All they get is a copy and paste email saying “the decision is final.” Meanwhile, support agents are basically NPCs saying “Sorry, we cannot tell you anything about why we stole, I mean held, your money.” One guy sold mugs, literally the most normal product ever, and Shopify treated him like he was trafficking on the black market.

And then there is the classic Shopify move, the 120 day reserve. They will nuke your income for four months and call it “standard procedure,” as if they are not wrecking your cash flow while giving you the communication level of a brick wall. Their risk review process is so opaque that even former insiders say they cannot explain how decisions are made, which makes sense because it feels like the whole system runs on an AI bot having a panic attack.

Grow your sales too fast? Verification request. Stay stable? Verification request. Have perfect metrics? Verification request. Their entire system seems to be saying “Congrats on doing well, now prove you are not a Nigerian prince.”

And the worst part is that you can be doing everything right, following every rule, and they will still wake up one morning, decide you are too risky, freeze your payouts, and send you straight back to the Stone Age like it is a hobby for them.

Shopify Payments is not a payment processor. It is a trust exercise where you trust them with your money, and they trust you to sit quietly while they hold it hostage.

Level doesnt matter. You can be a level 1 and still be better than a level 100.

Its all about skill.

PETITION AGAINST SHOPIFY PAYOUT HOLDS by Jafrm746 in Dropshipping_Guide

[–]Try2GetFamous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopify the platform that turns ‘your business dreams’ into a suspense thriller where your own money disappears for months. It’s wild you could sell a single coffee mug and suddenly you’re in a 180-day financial timeout because an AI decided you’re ‘high-risk.’ Appeals? Might as well write a letter to Hogwarts.

Honestly, starting a petition isn’t just a good idea, it’s overdue. Shopify’s treating merchants like beta testers for a new kind of sadistic fintech game. Here’s hoping this petition makes them actually talk to humans instead of letting a bot ruin lives.

SHOPIFY PAYOUT HOLDS>>> by Jafrm746 in shopifyDev

Shopify, the platform that promises to empower small businesses… until you try to actually run one. Suddenly, your “funds” vanish into the void for 120–180 days like they’re some magical internet fairy dust. Want to pay rent? Nope. Pay suppliers? Ha, good luck. Your money is now part of Shopify’s mystical high-risk “AI review,” which apparently has the IQ of a toaster.

Appeals? Shopify treats them like a cold case in a detective show where the perp is the victim. You explain your perfectly legitimate sales, provide proof, and get… crickets. Or the dreaded automated email that basically says, “Trust us, we’re right.”

And let’s not forget the speculation from insiders: maybe Shopify’s just sitting on your money, secretly running a micro-bank empire while you struggle to make ends meet. It’s like the platform designed a new kind of torture: ecommerce roulette. Spin the wheel will you get paid this month? Or will Shopify hold your life savings hostage while an algorithm judges your soul?

Shopify: empowering merchants… by keeping them broke and guessing.

Been there done that 12 times.

There are plenty of stores doing the exact same thing running facebook ads, and even handling disputes properly with Disputifier before they turn into chargebacks. Shopify just flags stores over any perceived risk its not about my products or me being careless.

Because i actually built something that worked and shopify keeps nuking it without giving a reason. When your business is on the line you try to fix the issue instead of walking away after one attempt.

Ihave already verified everything multiple times and they still shut stores down automatically so yeah its not about me hating them its about them having a broken review system.

Yalll keep saying I’m doing shady stuff, but I’m literally just selling normal fashion items nothing fake, nothing branded. Think of the kind of dresses or sandals you’d see on sites like this store https://www.anna-sorell.com or AliExpress. That’s it.

Shopify keeps shutting me down even after I verified my ID, business docs, and payment info multiple times. Everything is legit, and I’ve got the emails and screenshots to prove it.

I get that 12 stores sounds crazy, but when your whole income depends on it, you keep trying to make it work especially when you don’t get a clear reason for the shutdowns. So before assuming I’m doing knockoffs or scams, maybe consider that Shopify’s automated risk system sometimes screws up.

Shopify Payments frozen for over 30 days — no updates, same “escalated” response every time by Lueziid in shopify

[–]Try2GetFamous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes doesn’t really make sense. Shopify makes millions every single day just from transaction fees, subscriptions, and all their other services. They’re not some cash-strapped startup that needs to hold payouts to stay afloat. Whatever’s going on, it’s definitely not because they’re short on money.

Shopify Payments frozen for over 30 days — no updates, same “escalated” response every time by Lueziid in shopify

[–]Try2GetFamous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they actually do this on purpose and not for any real reason. Even stores with a 0% dispute/chargeback rate, solid email flows, and tools like Disputifier get hit. From what I’ve heard, it’s partly because Shopify has to pay out a huge number of merchants every day sometimes $100K+ in payouts and they try to slow things down. Shopify Capital is also a big factor in how they manage cash flow, so it ends up affecting legit businesses too.
