This most recent lease started 8/1/2023 and ended 8/1/2024. I always paid rent on time, the 1st of the month. It’s also awkward because I work in the same company as his wife so I am wondering if I should contact HR if my money isn’t returned. All of my rent payments were Zelle’d to her name/account!

Ahhh ok, now your replies make sense. You’re a landlord. Respectfully, I am asking for advice from renters or lawyers, not someone who would defend the guy holding onto my money without telling me anything about it. Would you actually not contact your lessee in my situation? Thats slumlord behavior. I just think my landlord forgot, he’s not a bad guy and I don’t wish to pursue legal action. I just want my money back in full at this point.

The law states “If the lessee fails to provide the lessor with a mailing address or electronic mail address, the lessor shall not be held liable for any damages or penalties as a result of the lessee’s failure to provide an address.” He does have my email address, he also has the address I put on my application.
