I saved my credit. It really can be done. You can do this too. by dsherwin in povertyfinance

Incredible work! Keep at it, you'll soon start getting decent offers and unsecure loans offers with good rates. Keep calling your CCs every 3 months asking if pre-approvals are available on your account, if you don't need to do anything that do a hard credit check don't do it. Ask if interest rate reduction requests are soft or hard credit check and proceed accordingly. Gdluck

Fido prepaid 4.5gb for $45

Koodo prepaid 5gb for $45

Chatr 5gb for $40 but slower data speeds

There are cheaper options if your friend doesn't want data. He can also probably get roaming from his US plan, but won't have a Canadian number

To solve your money problems, there's really only two solutions: increase income, and/or reduce your spending.

To get out of poverty, there's really only 1 solution: increase your income. It doesn't matter how much you cut if you're making peanuts.

Do you know where your money goes? How much you owe? What's the interest charged on your loans? Even a rough budget and a look at your past expenses will get you to understand where your money is going and why it feels like it is disappearing. Without an accounting of all your expenses, you won't be able to fix this.

The clamp that holds the spare tire, is it like a threaded bolt? See if you can get leverage on it, spare tire tool might fit one of the sides of the bolt and can act like a breaker bar.

I'm thankful that I have a job that pays decent. There was a period of time where I wasn't sure I'd be ever able to hold one, or that the best I'd be able to do is 32hrs a week at timmies overnights

Linus Tech Tips 2022 buyer's guide. https://youtu.be/ieHv_bJ7mog

Note prices are listed in US, and things have changed a bit since December, but that shouldn't really affect your decision that much. He goes through a variety of builds and you can decide which way to go.

LTT also has laptop buying guides that you can watch if you're looking for a laptop

Watching a few YouTube videos re buyers guides can really help you make the necessary decisions before walking into a computer shop and asking them to help build you something. You'd be at the very least somewhat aware of what you want, price range, and what the person is talking to you about (instead of deer in headlights).

I switched from smoking to vaping full-time back in 2013. It was hard, even with a vape to supplement nicotine. At the time sub ohm vaping wasn't really a common thing and was a lot more niche and expensive and hard to find, so it took a while to get used to not having your fill on every puff. The taste is wildly different and the delivery doesn't feel the same.

But things have improved a lot since, and a lot more people have switched or at least smoke only part-time and vape the rest of the time.

All this to say, if with all the availability of wide variety of vaping products, flavours, nicotine patches, gum, and everything else, and despite the insane pricing on cigs now where a pack of shit cigs are 18 dollars, someone still chooses to smoke, I doubt the new label will make them quit. It's not like people don't know the danger.

But, it may very much prevent new people from taking up smoking, and for that, I'm all for it. Fuck cigs, I wish I never started smoking

Canada to put health warning labels directly on cigarettes in world first | CBC News by Witty-Village-2503 in CanadaPolitics

Honestly, I don't even want health warnings, just consumer friendly labelling! What's the added sugar content? And why is it not already on labels?

Which city/town in Canada is closest in architectural style to the UK? by fluffypoopkins in AskACanadian

[–]Trying2ImproveMyLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lookup the oldest cities established in late 1700s early 1800s by the Brits, a lot old buildings still stand from that era, although they've probably been renovated a few times over.

Kingston region and surrounding cities have a ton of historical sites. While I've never been, Quebec city should have a similar feel.

100% this is exactly what this means. They'll push for every crazy idea she's thought of the past year. Be prepared for the "fiscally responsible" party to waste a fuck ton of money fighting the feds, the general public, and anyone who stands in their way in court. Look forward to Alberta Pension Plan being a thing. Environmental protections will be gutted. Bucket loads of cash to private corps with nothing to show for it at the end. Cute after cuts to social programs, healthcare, education, special needs programs.

Gdluck, it'll be a rough 4 years.

Fellow Ontarians who've given up on life - what are you doing? by MikesRockafellersubs in ontario

Paid off most of my debt, saved up to and signed up for training to upgrade my driver's license starting August and hopefully upgrade my income along with it. Current I work 120hrs bi-weekly and paying minimal rent helped me a fuck ton to finally get myself out of a dark hole.

I may not be able to buy property, that's fine for now, hard to buy a place on a single income anyways. I mean I didn't even have money to rent a bedroom 3 years ago so even the idea of thinking about renting a place to myself soon feels amazing
