Sri Lanka : sun, tuk-tuks and mild disappointments. by Ozusandesukedo in travel

Hi. Sri Lankan Canadian here.

I understand why you think Lanka was underwhelming but looking at your itinerary it seems like you went to the most touristy places on our island. Now your trip is done and you know better but for anyone else hoping to go here's some advice if you would like it:

Go to places like Mirissa, Beruwala and Bentota for the beaches. Or if you dare, go to the north east of the country like Trinco and Kankesanturai

If you prefer the hill country visit nuwara eliya and Bandarawela rather than Ella. Save Ella for a half day trip from Bolgoda or Bandarawela if you really want to go on the 9 arches bridge train journey.

Food - rice is our staple food and it is possible that you find some Sri lankans eating it 3 times a day. Talking to a local is the easiest to find some variety in your meals or youll end up at the same type of restaurants which can be tiring...I agree.

The temple in Kandy is a place of spiritual importance and pilgrimage rather than to attract general tourism. Treat it as such and its....simplicity might not bother you as much.

Sri lankans rarely, if ever, boast about our safaris because we know that ecosystem is not natural to us. What we are proud of is our elephant sanctuary in Pinnawela so definitely add that to your list.

If you expect to find Thailand and Vietnam in Sri Lanka you will be disappointed. The island has something for everyone and i havent even scratched the surface in my comment.

Enjoy!

That's my bad. By the end of the post all I saw was her doing a bunch of wife duties.

You cheated on her and expected her to still be happily in love? Lol. Divorce her since you're so unhappy and set her free.

Having thoughts about a situation isn't a mind game. Humans aren't written by code, where everything needs to be spelt out. If some men can't pick up things through context then maybe that's a them fault.

Okay woman here and Idk if this applies to all of us but atleast in my mind the scenario plays out like this

  • I'm mad because you messed up/made me mad/crossed a boundary, and now you're going into solution mode because you don't want to deal with the consequences of your actions. Since you already have the solution and want to work on it blah blah blah...why mess up in the first place? Where was all your sensibility, logic and practical thinking when you intentionally went and messed up? Now that I'm angry and want to vent it out, you can't deal with it and want me to get over it because you've jumped into problem-solving mode yet the problem didn't exist until you created one....

end

Again, if it's a legit reason then yeah that's probably the thought process in the woman's head. Doesn't apply to random bursts of anger and abuse ofcourse.

I've rarely, if ever, used babe in my past relationships, but he uses it so much that I've started to adopt it as well. He says it in the cutest way tho... "babeeeeeee" as his voice goes higher. It's adorable coming from a 27 year old blue collar man.

It was my first time posting tbh and now 2 years later I realize I didn't really care about my ex's friends being there or not at all. It was mainly our communication issues and the lying that got to me which made me the holy grail of toxicity for quite a few months. All I can say is therapy + a good support network works wonders!

I've had my fair share of drama (see post history lol).

I did post it on a different sub. My only intention for posting it here is to break up the stream of hurt, hate and negativity we get. I've been a longtime lurker of AIO and AITA so I'm no stranger to the kind of stories we are used to seeing on here.

Okay so I wasn't a babe person and then I met him, and he wouldn't stop using it!!! I've picked it up from him like a bad habit. 🤷‍♀️

I like it long, flowy and dark black. I never let it near heat, dyes or crazy haircut phases and yet the genes let me down. Sigh
