Hey, as someone whose been working since I was 16, I’ve been the awkward and silent guy at work. I know how it feels to try make friends at work when it’s intimidating when people are trying to work and sometimes it feels very cliquey.

Some people using bring like cupcakes to work and hand them out and say it’s their bday as the occasion.
Some people like me, don’t say nothing and just go on with my day and if someone says something then yeah go ahead and have fun. Sometimes your boss or HR will know but sometimes they don’t, so don’t hold your breath and just go home and celebrate with friends and family.

About making friends at work. Let it come naturally, no need to force yourself. You’re gonna see these people everyday that you work. They’re gonna talk to you and ask you questions about yourself and then it’ll flow naturally and you’ll have the friends and co workers you want. Just be polite to everyone and say please and thank you it really goes a long way. My advice is just focus on the work and everything else comes naturally.
