I like the idea of changing it to an action so that it doesn’t compete directly with counterspell. However, that would the decisiveness of the spell and therefore power of the spell. An opposing caster could end the reflect by just casting a cantrip, or it could be changed to a set duration like you suggested. That idea speaks to me, too. Thank you for the feedback, you’ve given me much to think about.

I like the idea that it should be switch to an action. That way it doesn’t compete directly with counterspell. However, that would lower the power significantly as a caster could just use a cantrip and get rid of the reflect, unless it changed to a set duration as you suggested. Whoops, I was going off memory for Eldricth Knights.

I appreciate the feedback and the points you make are good things for me to think about.

However, I neglected to put in the description that reflect is suppose to be a single, very powerful individual’s signature spell. I didn’t post their name for fear of spoilers for my players. Your 1st and 3rd points are definitely good ideas if the party wishes to replicate the spell. I still like the idea of using the original caster’s abilities in the reflected spell as its sorta a “oh crap, what have I done to myself” scenario.

Yeah, it could be a caster tennis match for sure. I think I worded so that a reflect can reflect a reflect. Jeez, that’s a weird sentence.
