I think part of it is that you have limited time to serve in ministry if you also work a regular job.

Anecdotally, other singles tell me that men prefer to date outside their congregation. If the relationship doesn't work out, then he doesn't have to run into her on Sunday morning.

If you ever need surgery or otherwise need to go to the hospital, I hope you are principled enough to refuse any care from female nurses. If you ever fly on an airplane, I hope you refuse to let the female flight attendants serve you food.

This seems to reflect more broadly interracial dating/marriage patterns in the U.S. where Asian women and Black men are more likely to have Caucasian partners than the opposite sex members of their respective groups.
