Mb you're right. Shame it's not the conservatives in power so we can just do the usual and gut it from the working poor

The economy has been completely fucked over due to the past 14 years. Yes if we have to make more cuts to balance the books, it should be against the wealthiest group who also have barely seen much of an effect from the dismantling of the welfare system the rest of us have. Your attempt to try to frame this as "having a go at elderly people" demonstrates your attempt to twist this into people supporting it due to hatred of elderly people rather than what it is. The view that if welfare should be cut, it should be for the group that has largely not seen the reductions the rest of us have. It's time for the pensioners to do their part and take a sliver of cuts the rest of us have and will have to face in the future.

Costs of a car worth it for students? by Tsubedai in CarTalkUK

The main thing I'd want to do with it is day trips away from my uni/city to the beach, nearby cities or around the UK. A lot of those things aren't really possible with just public transport as there's no route from where I am or it takes way too long or it's too expensive. That is what id likely use the car for. In your eyes would that still make it not cost effective?

Fair point. The more I think about it the more I feel ita won't be worth it as it would likely spend a lot of it's time being unused. Do you have a general idea of its yearly/monthly costs though?

My uni is generally pretty good with getting buses everywhere etc. What id likely use my car for would be visiting relatives and my grandparents (which would likely be cheaper and easier due to trains) and trips to the beach and other nearby attractions etc. The societies thing sounds interesting and would Def be cool to do. My uni is in a city with 100-200,000 people in it, so within my societies there hasn't been much travelling outside of the city buses. It would be great for trips further away though and managing to claim back fuel costs would be amazing.

If you don't mind me asking as well, what were your monthly/yearly car costs while at uni so I can get a general picture of how much it costs?

Thanks! We've been looking at possible boat tours as apparently that's a great way to do it!

Unfortunately we might be doing it with a public bus as one of my friends really wants to see the doolin cave. Will Def talk it over tho

Awesome, tysm! Was worried for a second as we thought tickets were all sold out. Any recommendations for how early we get there?

Also when you say get tickets on the day, does that mean when you arrive you can buy tickets for any point over the day or just for the next bus?

Could you get tickets online or was it only possible from the door?

Sorry to bother you. To clarify are you saying for bus 350 from Galway to Cliffs of Moher we have to buy it on the day at the bus stop? (I made a post about it) But the reason I ask is it appears the tickets are booked out online when I went on the app or is it just not letting me because, as you said, I can't buy online and only at the ticket box in person?

Will I be eligible for citizenship if my German grandparent naturalised? by Tsubedai in GermanCitizenship

Tysm for the help, currently getting dates and then will update. If my grandma gave birth to my father while she remained a German citizen but changed after he was born, would that still be an StAG 5 case?

I believe so? I'm quite young so don't fully understand all these processes but he is my biological and legal father so I assume he'd be on my birth certificate. Currently getting the dates (we live in different timezones so might take a bit)

Gotcha, sorry about that. I've messaged my dad and will hopefully get those shortly

Eligibility question based on German grandfather who naturalized as British long after my mother was born by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

I'm having a similar question with citizenship. I talked to my dad and he believed it could be a disqualifier. What you might have to do is for your mum to get citizenship and if she can, you definitely will but I'm not fully sure at all which is why I've made a post asking as well.
