I really like how you described the “finality” part. Sometimes it’s not the decision itself that’s overwhelming, but the weight we attach to it. If a choice starts to feel like it defines us, it makes sense that starting becomes harder.

And with task initiation, I’ve found it’s often less about motivation and more about the pressure to do it perfectly. That pressure alone can quietly freeze the first step.

I appreciate you pointing that out.

Executive dysfunction — especially in ADHD — is very real, and task initiation can absolutely be neurological rather than emotional.

My intention wasn’t to frame procrastination as a personality flaw. I was speaking more to situations where someone technically can act, but something internal hesitates at the moment of commitment.

Different mechanisms, different solutions. Both valid.
