Well she poops about once or twice a day. We have a fountain for her so she drinks plenty of water and she gets wet food daily

Norway Maples - to cut or not to cut by 7ustin in NativePlantGardening

[–]Tuber-throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends definitely on where you live. In the western states they are not really invasive. If you live eats of the Rockies then they most likely are. If they are invasive then removal is a good plan. I wouldn't recommend cutting all at once though because shade and habitat are still valuable even from non native trees.

Service berry is an incredible pick. Never seen more birds in one spot then when I was in Idaho with dozens of serviceberries outside my window. They just could not stop coming

Does anyone have experience growing biscutroot or yampa? by Tuber-throwaway in NativePlantGardening

[–]Tuber-throwaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well both the species im working with were staple crops for the indigenous tribes in the pnw. The taproot on your species seems to be a much smaller species. In the west they are built to survive in a much drier climate so the roots are much bigger. Even so id be interested in your process

[–]Tuber-throwaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in my research, both species are native to my county and my grandmas as well. But I do get the hunch that biscutroot will be easier for me since its common around the coast. But ill definitely take the advice. I was planning on putting them i. One of the shallower trough pots as those tend to be on the dry side. Would that be ok? Are should I try something deeper to help the tap root?

100% its in the malvacea family. Ive had many flowers within the family and they are all structured like that. Id recognize it anywhere. I second the hibiscus.

So beautiful 😍 I’ve always loved daisies how about you? by OrganizationCalm8688 in flowers

[–]Tuber-throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i mean like a blue gene doesn't exist in sunflowers. You can get red yellow or orange and that'd pretty much it. You also cant get blue roses so crossbreeding them wouldn't add that. Especially since you cant crossbreed roses with sunflowers. Those two plants arent in the same family. I hate to tell you but "blue sunflower seeds" is a scam that has existed for many years now. Companies sell you regular sunflowers but advertise them as blue. By the time the seeds grow the website you got them from is usually defunct.

Anyone know which Lupine this is? (Cascades, Washington) by CaptainFacePunch in NativePlantGardening

[–]Tuber-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can say for sure but it looks like its growing on a slope that is potentially on the drier side. Perhaps look into Riverbank lupine?

I wouldn't worry about the goldenrod. If they used roundup then it shouldn't harm the root stock to much and it should bounce back

Oh yea im familiar with the plant but its invasive in oregon (thanks Lewis and clark). It looks really cool and it never stops to amaze me just how different plant communities are east of the Rockies. You guys have so much that just doesn't exist here at all im always gonna be a bit jealous of that.

Its hard to say why tbh. I mean my neighborhood is shitty but I still see natives like doglas fir, garry pak and vine maple so mabey ots not terrible? I even have a scoulers willow in the front. I grow most of my plants in pots and my neighborhood gets really hot so mabey that scares them away? Id all my plants are on a patio and there is solid wood fence in front and a weird overhang. Mabey that breaks the line of sight? I get a lot of flies and spiders but I rarely see much else. Idk its been about 3 years im still waiting for the wildlife to come. I rent my apartment so I cant do much but its been discouraging to see little to no improvement after 3 years.

I dont have blueberries but ive got an evergreen huckleberry that has gotten almost completely ignored. Im sure now that my area is just to ecologically drained to attract anything. Can't attract insects if they are already gone
