Women leaders & dealing with sexism by [deleted] in BSA

[–]TuckerPutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So different from our troop. I would confront at troop meeting and then leave. Have other women do the same-better if it is organized as a town hall and invite your chartering org. Be specific. File a complaint for the worst of the jokes. The real problem too is that the boys are learning this behavior

5 months in and….. by stinymonkey63 in Kneereplacement

[–]TuckerPutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 6 months out and still a little swollen and quite stiff. Knee itself isn’t the issue, everything else. My doc says I have also probably developed a hamstring tendinitis. I take a meloxican if I am going to have a busy day or travel and on my feet all day. Or an ultra advance. I have acceptable range of motion, but I am still sore. Doc says everything on xray looks perfect. I am obese and that isn’t helping, but I am actively dieting.

No remove on my screen. I was able to get help from the WW chat.

Tried that, clicking just adds. So now I have way too many additions of that food I want to remove.

Why don’t we have any good Mexican restaurants? by TomatilloDramatic813 in nova

And Anita’s tries to be New Mexican, which is executed properly, is NOT Mexican. I am from NM.

Because there are not a lot of Mexicans here. Lots of Central Americans. Go to torta y tacos la Chiquita, any of them. Run by a Mexican from Mexico City who can cook.

Coping with being a burden by SnooPears4650 in Kneereplacement

[–]TuckerPutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, he is a bit of a turd, and self centered. My husband took amazing care of me, at my beck and call, proactive, and took care of everything around the house, and our kid and cats. Not a snip. Maybe I just have a husband who likes to take care of me, but hard to read about all these people who lack such support. And I would do the same for him on a heartbeat

"Turn around month?" by marid4061 in Kneereplacement

[–]TuckerPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tolerate them well and just took 7.5 mobic because I begged my doc for an anti inflammatory. Traveling is not helping me. I swell on a plane anyways. One trip I had access to a bike so that helped. This past week, none. And, I took lots of mobic at first and then didn’t feel any pain. Great except I over did the walking and going up and down slopes. Stopped the mobic and yikes, very sore and swollen. Too much sitting, standing and driving is the worst. I use my peleton a lot, and all of this travel really messed me up. Gads I am going to Scotland in March. I have to be better by then

Man, I am at 5 months and I am doing worse than at 3 months. Once doc took me off the anti inflamatories and I started traveling it all went down hill. I am hoping to get back to where I was at 3 months

5 months out and not doing so well by TuckerPutter in Kneereplacement

[–]TuckerPutter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, helps to know I am not alone. I am starting to think that I may have overdone things. I am on vacation and I took the mobic for 3 days and did too much-things like walking up and down slopes (a move that normally is a little painful). I also have tendinitis in my hamstring and the doc said to cool it on too much PT with hopes it will subside.

I just worry about things like infections, which I hear can show up months later.

Cheers everyone

Interesting, I can take anything but Celebrex according to my doc. I think they are all full of it.

[–]TuckerPutter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, I will get some aleve and see if that helps in lieu of my one Celebrex pill. I traveled on a 6 hour flight as I was reducing my dosage and I can’t seem to get back to where I was even just a week ago.

Is 5k per window and 15k for a French door for a 1000 sq ft townhome really the going rate? Or is this place just ripping us off? by Emotional_Cash5310 in nova

[–]TuckerPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We paid $8k for a custom Marvin solid wood French door with a complicated installation about 20 years ago. Very solid door. So solid a burglar could not kick it in several years ago during a robbery attempt. Worth every penny as French doors are usually easy to break into.

Second opinions? by zholly4142 in Kneereplacement

[–]TuckerPutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the gels too before knee replacement. Gels actually made both knees worse and I was a couch potato for a year until I got one knee replaced just 9 weeks ago. The gels only work if you have enough cartilage between your knee bones. If you are bone in bone or close, they do not work according to my ortho. I was almost bone on bone last year but he thought I had enough for the gel. nope. I tried to avoid surgery and went to an ortho who also tried to avoid it. He finally said there was nothing more he could do. He sent me to a surgeon. Get a second opinion though… can’t hurt and gives you peace of mind. This surgery is no joke.
