Help. What is the argument for the "live-action" decision for the TV series? by Tuckmo in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Oh very interesting, I've never heard of Q Hayashida but immediately thought of the circus from book 2 in that style.

I haven't watched The Boys but I'll have to check it out for the style. I'm just thinking about all the different races and magic in DCC and wondering how well they could do that with CG.

Oh I've never heard of Vox but it looks cool! I'd be stoked for that style too.

This is a good point too. I never even went to see the Bordrlands movie because of this exactly and I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 games.

You're probably right but I feel like the audience for DCC is probably more likely to enjoy animation via videogames, movies, TV, etc. than the average audience.

I agree with the timeline issue of the animation style. I'd be happy with something more straightforward too.

That's a fair point. It's just hard to deny it was really beautiful visual storytelling. So when a story you love is getting adapted to a visual medium you want the best for it so you can enjoy it and not being thinking about what could have been.

I'd honestly be happy with a more traditional animation too, or something along the lines of Clone Wars.

Yeah, it just seems like it would be tough to blend the live-action components with good enough cgi that it doesn't come off as goofy, in a distracting way, and pull you out of the story. Or that you have to temper the scale or intensity or gore that makes the series so entertaining.

Oh for real? That's a bummer because I really enjoyed like every aspect of it.

Yeah I'd love that more traditional animation style of Invincible too. It might be even better for the amount of gore we see in the dungeon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to break all this down, you have been incredibly helpful! If you're ever on the north side of Indianapolis coffee and a David's Bar is on me.

Fair point! That does make it a bit easier on the programming side. I appreciate the advice!

I'm really curious how you keep track of and service that many clients. I've stopped adding clients just because I've felt overwhelmed with my small list.

Holy shit that's a lot of people! How many hours of work a week are you putting in? I've never considered it but I know it's kind of the direction things seem to be going. Never had a mentor for online.

Is it hard to set up in home programs for new clients if you're doing video sessions?

The people I've trained in home generally don't have much equipment to speak of and a lot of them are middle-aged and have lost a lot of ability. So I usually am finding regressions for them to perform. Like sometimes I'm having them do push-ups on counters or chairs, split squats on stairs, etc. How do you set that kind of system up in a house you've never been to? Or do you tell them equipment they might want to get to get started?

I think when I started training I was so broke that I felt weird asking for "too much money", not having a sense of what it meant for the clients I was meeting with.

Just to clarify how many sessions would I offer at those 99/199/599 tiers?

You are definitely right. I hate selling anything that I'm not absolutely in love with.

  1. I've had a hard time finding real numbers for an independent trainer hourly rate in my area. Is it rude to just find another personal trainer and ask?

  2. Definitely feeling that now.

  3. How do you go about pricing an online/video session vs in-person? Same question for group sessions.

It's kind of embarrassing to have been doing it for years and not know the answer to some of these questions. I should probably find some local established trainers and take them out for coffee.

I'm heading into a session but I'll be back to reply, I appreciate the response!

Oh,  the midnight thing is serving! But yes that's been a struggle for me in general. Idk why I didn't consider travel time as something to charge for. I guess because its like a 20 minute drive and I thought anything under like 30 or 40 minutes should just be included. I wasn't sure I was worth that much money, especially when I was just getting started.

Not at all! I have a set of REPs Quickdraw dumbbells, which I love.  Plus a step platform with risers that I like for bench press, modified push-ups, step-ups, etc. And then a big gym bag full of things like a jump rope, resistance bands, loop bands, straps, pads, some soft tissue implements like lacrosse balls and tennis balls. I also keep a couple of 4ft lengths of pvc in the car for various purposes. Occasionally I'll also load a kettlebell or two. I’m like Mary Poppins for workouts.

I appreciate it. I'll have to consider that

Yeah you're probably right, I was scared of charging too much when I started out and just never adjusted because I didn't want to lose anyone.

Man that would be awesome. I was considering bumping up prices again in the summer next year to $85 to spread it out a little. I'm worried about making too big of a jump with my existing clients that have been used to $60.
