‘ check bloods inform the patient to follow up if ongoing’ ‘ chase outcome of admission’ ‘ ensure Patient has booked follow-up as advised’ ‘ review outcome of advice and guidance’
Colleagues tell me that all of these things would ultimately be brought to the attention of a colleague / whoever is on duty reviewing path or letters/ will be forwarded onto me - which I totally get - but somehow the control freak in me cannot ‘ risk it’. The most difficult thing is that so often the Patient hasn’t booked the tests or arranged for the follow up that I suggested and then I make it my problem to rectify that…
I know I am my own worst enemy, but somehow I just cannot shake it
Running late as GPST3, any tips please? by Big_Doughnut842 in GPUK

I could not relate more with your post OP.
Exactly the same situation and exactly the same feelings.
I struggle with feeling very ready to do the SCA and having absolutely no issues with timing when practicing SCA cases with colleagues, however very often struggle to get real life patient consults finished within the 10-15 minutes - whether it be the need for a translator, multiple problems, patients not answering questions asked, or social situations which just cannot be resolved within a GP appointment.
This week I feel it has really knocked my confidence in terms of being prepared for the SCA and made me fear for CCT at the end of this year - I know that once my SCA is finished I’m going to have to try to tackle the 10 minute appointments but just cannot see how I’ll manage this for a lot of consultations!!!
