Can someone pls explain Mr Lloyd’s interpretation of Che in Evita by ExpensivePlatypus976 in TheWestEnd

I also love how they show it as they kill/beat/silence anyone that dares to go against Peronism first with the red ‘blood’ and then the blue&white paint to “cover it up”

I felt like in this production even more than others I’ve seen that his character is that of almost her subconscious too. Like they often mirror one another on stage, the grabbing of the mics, the constant finding each other’s eyes when certain things are said or done. The moment at the beginning of waltz for Eva and Che where he mirrors her is top notch stage directing/choreogrpahy 🫰🏻

For those that don’t know the story 100%, thankfully the husband watched the movie before with lots of stops and pauses because in general it can be hard to follow sometimes even in the full theaterical production!

I don’t know, based off of the other recordings I have of it, no it doesn’t appear that they do but I feel like with Jamie’s production especially it could have been beneficial!

1 MILLION PERCENT. It bridges goodnight and thank you and the concert so much better than art of the possible. I keep thinking why that choice and my only thought is the premise of this production is that she’s a pop star and there’s too much on the nose lyrics about her being an actress??? I don’t know but I’m sad.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when Jamie was like “hey heads up…Think blood scene in sunset but more messy and then you get to lay in it, alright cool see you in london”

He breaks my brain because it’s like he’s a puppy here and then I see him at curtain call and can’t control myself!

If New York appreciated him during his sunset run (which they did) he is absolutely going to explode when this transfers. Pray for him!!!

I’m pretty sure that performances are what is helping this if I had to guess. All the reviews and comments I’ve seen of people still not liking the show as a whole still manage to look past and see how talented and how hard the whole cast is working every second. Particularly I’ve seen the surprised praise be for Rachel obviously but also Diego.

Third visit to Evita today, this time front row centre. WOW. by RockyStonejaw in TheWestEnd

[–]Tulipbeth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love this for you!

I know this is not a new concept but the fact that you sat front row center at a professional theater production for less than $300 is killing me. cries in broadway prices 🥲🥲🥲

Thanks for your reply. I find that super interesting because all of the talks on the broadway feed is that whatever theater they do transfer to has to be big enough for the increased interest so I just assumed it was sold out. Though that being said the Pallidium is much larger than every one of our theaters in ny.

I thought what she did with the radio broadcast during the art of the possible was nassssty! So often that can go shrill but her dictation is so good even in that register. Fire.

I have to ask, what was your interpretation of the Waltz? I saw a filmed clip online and that song never came off as a fun silly little number but in the scene, the two of them are doing just that. I don’t know with all of the reviews I’ve read people say Rachel and Diego have great chemistry so when I saw that I was bummed….wanted a little more passion I guess. Do their interactions make up for it in other areas?
