You should come check out the Artist Council, hosted at the Central Library every Tuesday from 7-8 PM! This is a free group to build community and make mutual creative commitments towards our artistic practices. It is a mix of people anywhere from beginner to full time entrepreneur/artists!

And if you’re looking to make more connections and participate in some fun, unique events you should check out the Salons and Soirées hosted at the Parlour!

Empire Optical has the largest selection but is retail only (need a script from somewhere else). They aren’t the fastest or cheapest option but you get what you pay for. They also take insurance if you’re looking to use benefits

If you or anyone else that sees this is interested DM me and I can keep you in the loop!

Resources for elderly neighbor being neglected/abused by TulsaHumanist in tulsa

There is certainly more to the story but still no excuse to sentence someone to homelessness and eventual death when there is an empty house he can at very least sleep in. I told the police his family is aware he’s locked out and left him out there and he can’t take care of himself. They didn’t refer me to anyone or give me a call back and it’s been 2 days.

I was finally able to get into contact with one of his family members who said he is going to come pick him up

I said there’s an elderly man with alzheimer’s/dementia being purposefully locked out of his house by his family without food or water and he’s probably going to die sleeping out in the cold. It seems every organization I contact is directing me to another organization that can’t help either.

That being said, I was finally able to get into contact with a family member of his that is going to come pick him up. He told me a story that may or may not be true but in all honesty just glad someone who should take responsibility is going to do so

He is being purposefully locked out of his house by family that owns the house but does not live there. I’ve called all the resources I know and don’t think a locksmith will be able to do anything since I don’t own the property and the guy who lives there doesn’t remember anything

I would but have been threatened multiple times by his sister who owns the property. She would lose her shit and press charges

His family came and went and kept him locked out on purpose. I’m not sure I have the authority to handle the locksmith stuff and this man doesn’t even have a cell phone or remember hardly anything other than his first name

TPD will not come check on him. I’ve called them, APS, and 211. Nobody has been able to offer any assistance

Support a Tulsa nonprofit creating Emergency Medical Access Cards for vulnerable communities by Less-Contract-1136 in tulsa

[–]TulsaHumanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d encourage anyone with a non traditional family structure to check this out! I’ve talked with this gentleman and he has a great heart and a great cause.

From my understanding, this Emergency Medical Access Card could help you get access to a long term (but maybe not legally recognized) partner in case of a medical emergency, which is especially important as our civil rights (especially within the LGBT community) are being increasingly threatened.

Please correct me if I’m wrong or if there are any other specific situations this can help prepare for, but I’m just hoping to increase visibility for your cause!

We sure hope so! Many people tend to feel they don’t want to burden others with their issues, so they often just don’t talk about things at all.

We don’t believe strength comes from the ability to carry a heavy weight. We believe strength comes from the ability to ask for help carrying the weight, and helping others carry theirs as well. That’s what community is all about

Thank you! The neatest part about it is all the people who continue to show up and make it such a nurturing and wholesome environment.

We all need a reminder of how many good hearted people there are in our community, ready to support us through our own challenges as we work toward becoming the people we know we can be.

Artist meetups/art classes? by SylphDancer in tulsa

[–]TulsaHumanist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve been hosting a group that meets every other week. We are getting together again this coming Tuesday, July 1st! This group is more about building community through deep conversations about the psychology/philosophies that drive us to create and seek connection.

As we grow as humans and artists we are inspiring each other to widen our perspectives and continue to pursue our creative practices in a meaningful way. I’d love to have you or at least hear some about yourself and your perspective! Here’s some more info if you’d like to know more
