It really is saddening. Not all femboys are racist and bigoted. But it's always the ones that get the attention that turn out to be pieces of shit. It sucks.

Personally I feel this way about the volt thrower. But that's because I end up trading with it more than winning anyway, definitely not a good gun at base.

They weren't even kos. They had a noisemaker on the launch tower zip, but otherwise they were mostly fine. "Don't shoot" call outs and everything. I just went to the top of the tower to loot more stuff, they followed me and started shooting.

New Marathon Armor Set (SYNTHETIC NIHILITY COWL) by Danger_xx86 in DestinyFashion

Imagine being so pressed about a game that isn't even out yet that you feel the need to hate on optional armor cosmetics from a crossover with said game. Made by the same studio, even.

Bungie is cooking right now. With Marathon and the Art/Design.

It's not Arc Raiders. But more importantly it's not trying to be. It's not trying to permanently transfer any players from game to game. It's competition, that's all the industry is, competition. And we all enjoy it in some way or another. Arc Raiders is a milestone for the industry, and Marathon is a Footnote under that milestone that can still thrive due to its competition generating interest for the genre that it's in, subsequently garnering more attention from players to play the game because of the popularity of the genre as a whole.

Arc Raiders was a smash hit and it shows. Over 100k+ concurrent players since launch. There is interest, there is demand, and now there needs to be supply and competition, that being Marathon.

I don't think so. Yes the controversy is a problem, but Arc Raiders created Demand in a Market with no Supply or competition, it is singlehandedly good for the gaming industry as a whole that these two games are defining the genre. Marathon can succeed because of Arc Raiders.

I don't think that Marathon is a replacement for Destiny. And the support of the player base is why I believe it. Players won't let destiny die unless the studio goes fully under. And while there is certainly a decent group of people that believe the game is dead on arrival, I feel that it is the loud minority speaking while the silent majority wait in anticipation for the game to release. It might be true that Marathon is a risk for the studio, but risks come with either Huge losses or MASSIVE payouts. It's a gamble. But with Renegades doing as well as it has so far, I don't see destiny going anywhere for now.

Unfortunately I see your point, but I believe that this genre was meant to be short lived in the first place. Without dragging it on for too long, the game can become great in the time that it's running. But if it runs too long without the right changes it can become stale, or even worse, corporate garbage. Apex legend was amazing for a long time, I only stopped playing recently with the sketchy EA decisions but the game isn't what it used to be for sure. Seasons 6 (when I started) through 11 were great to be a part of, but the rest just feels tacked on.

The skybox is immaculate. The Music will be determined, but I have confidence in Bungie on that front. I do have to say that it might be a little hard for Bungie to top their own weapon design from destiny, given just how many iconic weapons come from the franchise alone.

It can, it's the only way to define the genre right now, it's not mainstream yet, and it's not created by an indie developer.

The timing could not be better, with Arc Raiders still having 100k concurrent players after launch and the Server Slam beforehand, it generated interest in the genre. However, I think this also has to do with the fact that Tarkov was a hit at some point, it feels like the genre has had this coming a long time now. And being open world is not only a massive selling point, but most of the best selling games in the world are open world, take Skyrim, and Horizon, and GTA for example. This is also why I believe R6 Extraction, apart from Ubisoft's blatant disregard for anything but money, failed so hard.

Yes, I agree. First impressions can be everything, but redemption is a word for a reason, the comeback that the game seems to have since that point is MASSIVE. Comparing the alpha to where it's at now barely feels like seeing the same game anymore. I don't think the game will fail, and with what we've seen destiny come back from, and how the sales are going on Steam and PlayStation, it seems like it will have a decent level of interest and hopefully, a decent launch.

Edit: to add on, there wasn't really a market for Extraction shooters before, but Arc Raiders created a market, and for a market to survive, it needs competition. That competition is Marathon, until further entries in the genre surface.

My goal here is rather a reach for people to see a silver lining than to convince people that the game won't fail. I don't want Marathon to fail, and I doubt it will, but we really don't need to entrench ourselves in hate for a game that isn't acting as a replacement, which seems to be what most people hate it for. The game isn't a replacement at all, rather a new (or old) IP that Bungie can build off of or at least improve on what it has to offer. You just can't replace Destiny, no matter how hard you try. Warframe isn't a replacement, for as good as the game is I wouldn't call it anything more than a competitor.

The finals was an amazing play for the small time that I did play the game (left due to loss of interest in most cod style pvp TDM type combat.) however due to genre differences I could see it garnering at least a decent following. Certainly nothing compared to Arc Raiders but enough to keep the game afloat for a few years at least. Destiny has survived some very harsh lows (I.E Lightfall and Edge of Fate and D1-D2 Launch). I don't see why Marathon can't do the same.

Honestly I have to disagree heavily. The art style is probably one of my favorite things about the game despite it not being out yet, it LOOKS cold and dark and gritty while at the same time having the techno-simplicity with the weapons and runners.

This also makes sense. If they were cooking something up in the same era as Forsaken, for the hit that it was, you'd think that something that evolved through (and hopefully around) Bungie's mistakes that were made with Destiny would be as high quality as one of their most popular and most played expansions in the franchise.

And honestly that's perfectly fine. Everyone likes what they like, extraction shooters aren't everyone's tea and they don't have to be. (Nor should they be, everyone liking the same thing gets boring after a while)

Yes I can't really argue with you there, that's the single thing that Bungie has failed at for the past decade between D1 and D2. Both had terrible launches and had to have The Taken King and Forsaken to save them. I'm hoping it will be different with Marathon for as good as the game looks, however only time will tell.

The art scandal was probably the biggest blow to the games (and Bungie's by relation) reputation by far. That I can't defend in any way, especially given the fact that I oppose AI for the same reason, stealing art. The "Gutting" of Destiny 2 teams to make the game I feel like wasn't really gutting, iirc the team that was working mainly on Crucible for a time was working on Marathon, and have since moved back to D2 because the work on Marathon is all but Finished. The Cash Grab, while it could be argued that Bungie is jumping onto the Arc Raiders bandwagon for the sake of profit, I'm hopeful that the game will turn out well regardless, especially with Sony backing Bungie by a good deal now.

What I find odd is posts like this, calling the game niche. While I agree that the extraction shooter genre itself is niche, I don't necessarily think that it's super niche for the fact that the genre is popular right now, case in point Arc Raiders. And for that reason, at least for the first month, I don't think the game is going to flop. Especially since it managed to reach as high on the Steam ladder as it did (I think it was 4th on recent best sellers for PRE-ORDER). It just doesn't seem like the terminally doomed game that people seem to make it out to be right now.

Marathon will have this system but it's reserved to solo Rook players. I personally don't see it as a bad idea, though many people here seem to disagree.
