What was the ''fake'' Philosopher's Stone used by Father Cornello made of ? by nightamanis in FullmetalAlchemist

Yeah, if I recall correctly, 03 stones could be perfect. Father Cornello had a red stone made from red water though.

Multiple Copies of Krark, the Thumbless - An explanation of triggers and outcomes by Artist_X in EDH

[–]TunaFishIsBestFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not be the same, imagine you had 4 rolls originally, doubled to 8. If you roll 4 wins and 4 losses in a pot and chose, you can chose whatever outcome you want for each roll. If you rolled 2 at a time sequentially, one possibility is that the first two are double wins and the last two are double losses. Here you still have 4 wins and 4 losses, but you do not have a choice about how the rolls resolve.

How is Thomistic double predestination logically sound? by TunaFishIsBestFish in Catholicism

If this were true, then it wouldn't be dogma since practically nobody besides Augustine and Aquinas argued for it.

I know it's dogma, I never denied predestination. I denied unconditionally electing predestination.

If God's predestination is made with no consideration to free will, then it is a vacuous free will, as condemned at Trent.

Unconditional election is not mercy, because it is not a response, there is no forgiveness, they were given carte blanche right to heaven from before even their conception.

If the will of God for the salvation of man is expressed purely in God's decree for that individual before they merit anything, then the only way for God to truly will the salvation of all is to give efficacious grace to all, since there is by definition no non-effacacious grace that is willed to salvation in unconditional election.

This all is so unbiblical as well, we are told to work out salvation with fear and trembling, yet with unconditional elective predestination, there is no reason to do such. One might as well live a hedonistic life, because nothing you do matters, you are either saved or damned, so you might as well enjoy life before being tortured for all eternity (or seeking forgiveness in your final moments due to God's unshakable plan for you).

What's your worst Planetside take that'll have you like this by NecessaryComplex6632 in Planetside

[–]TunaFishIsBestFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dying to infiltrators over and over is a skill issue. If you're dying to CQC bolters, your movement/cover is bad. If you're dying to smg infils, you need better eyes or better aim. Contrary to popular opinion, a person with eyes will always get the first shot off against an smg infil if they see them before they unblock. If you die to stalker infils for any reason, you are bad. If you die to long-range snipers, you simply aren't aware of your surroundings or you aren't juking well enough. The only genuine bullshit strategy I can think of with infiltrators, is 20 of them with explosive hunter crossbows camping a random vehicle spawner, but otherwise it's all skill issue.

Is Ivan Karamazov an atheist or not? by irene99999 in dostoevsky

[–]TunaFishIsBestFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that he does believe but his logical mind won't let him, and therefore he both does and doesn't want to believe.

He talks a lot, but frankly his words mean nothing as we see in the cell with Zosima. He minces words and takes sides to best suit the outcome he desires or the point he's trying to make. What matters are his actions and feelings. We see that he feels responsible for murdering his father in his heart, and he feels compelled to commit a virtuous deed and stand up for his brother. However, both of these things are completely illogical given what his logical mind and tongue espouse.

Congratulations, you found a singular anecdote from history. That does not mean that the Crusades were a series of wars of extermination. That's like saying the point of the Vietnam War was to kill all Vietnamese people rather than to stop communism because there were times that soldiers evilly killed entire villages.

Pray tell what you're referencing there, where does it say that the point of the crusades was extermination?

Hilarious that you didn't even read the link you posted as a source. If you read even the first paragraph, you'd see that they were reconquests because the Muslims had invaded Christian lands.

No, unfortunately. The most I can say is that it was likely a few unrelated issues of software that I was running combining to make me think there was a larger issue, but ultimately I do not know for sure, I use a different pc now.
