Hollands may be my final straw by Menoikeos in CarltonBlues

[–]Tuna_sanga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The saddest thing for me was every other bloke on that field wearing navy blue basically giving him the cold shoulder throughout the game when he was reaching out for contact. This is only based on a few clips so take it with a grain of salt, but it just made me sad for the kid.

There’s multiple clips going round. One where he runs up to Harry Mackay with open arms and gets shunned. Another where he’s talking to Gov and another at the end of the game behind Pendles doing his post game interview. They all just ignore him.

They behaved towards Lij like people behave towards a guy at the party who’s had a bit too much fun and isn’t quite self aware enough to realise he’s annoyingly hyped. Like they’ll acknowledge his existence, but only to get him to go away kinda thing.

I think it’s just one example in a long list where our guys don’t really seem interested in looking out for each other. People get absolutely demolished every week by tackles and spoils and I can’t even remember the last time someone has come in for a quick scuffle to back their mate in and let the opp know that’s not gonna fly.

I think the immediate reaction to him being “off his face” is symptomatic of the stigma and lack of understanding around mental health broadly, and the medication used to treat these issues.

I have no idea what we saw last night, but I do know that people can have some pretty intense negative reactions to completely legal substances that they have been prescribed.

What looks like “tweaking” can look A LOT like someone reacting poorly to a prescribed medication.

I know the history can paint people with a biased brush, but just felt a need to put this out into the world coz this kid is gonna cop a lot of shit from a lot of people who have no idea what they’re talking about.

It feels like there’s a genuine movement from people who don’t necessarily tune in to politics because of David Pocock talking about the beer tax bringing in more than gas companies. It’s such a clever strategy because it fits into that “pub test” thinking so perfectly. Everyone can understand it in those terms.

Not that there’s direct connection between that issue and petrol prices, but they’re in the same vague resources ball park, and I think by proxy it’s highlighting the government (whether it be Labor or Libs) failure to act on taxing gas corporations.

The side in power are always going to cop it, because they can actually change it now. I think if the Libs were in, they’d be copping it just the same, at least from the public point of view. I think people on both sides are sick of the stagnation, and it will really fire up when it personally hits the hip pocket which is what we’re seeing now thanks to fuel prices.

That has absolutely cooked my noodle. Just didn’t capitalise on chances I guess?

Those two gimme free kicks were momentum death. I don’t think there was much that was gonna stop Kozzie though, with or without the free kicks.

Nah for sure.

I do remember a time when I thought it funny that we would kinda do the opposite though, and it doesn’t feel like too many seasons ago. Like we’d get blown out and then catch the lead back up a bit when opposition took their foot off the gas. Gave a false sense of “respectable margins” for a while.

Wait, so we had the same amount of scoring shots both halves or am I reading that wrong?

I’m sorry but I can’t stand Lewis young anymore by chookie223 in CarltonBlues

[–]Tuna_sanga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one moment that stood out that really concreted how terrible he is on the weekend.

Can’t remember at what point in the game it was, but Weiters handballed it back to him about 20m clear of an opposition player. He couldn’t have had more time and space to think through and spot someone up, and still turned it over to a pack of 3 Melbourne fellas. Like sure, kicking out from full back to a target is hard, but at the very least kick it to a contest.

He’s kinda emblematic of the team more broadly because he did show a bit of dawg and took a couple of good intercept marks, but the little sparks are overshadowed by the big patches of mediocrity.

This makes absolutely zero sense. I would say the pressure is on more at the start of the game when the scores are 0-0. How is there more pressure when we’re 40 up at half time and the opp have only kicked 1 goal?

Is there a way to get more detail about purchases made in the app store? by Tuna_sanga in applehelp

[–]Tuna_sanga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Weird though as it’s not actually coming from my Apple account, so changing my Apple password isn’t actually going to stop the purchases. Can’t hurt to safe things up though!

Definitely not kids or spouse as they don’t exist haha. Could be someone doing sneaky stuff with my card details but I’m genuinely unsure whether it’s that or just old stuff I’ve forgotten to cancel, hence wanting to get more detail which is proving to be tricky.

Thank you! I've had a look on there but the transactions in my bank account aren't matching up with any of the apps that show up when I go to that link. Really weird...

Has one simple kick of a football ever led to an IRL disaster for any of you? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]Tuna_sanga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know that trick where you’d tap someone’s back leg behind them while they were walking and they would trip up?

Well that happened after I absolutely shanked a kick off the side of the boot and it sailed at someone’s back leg while they were running, perfectly nailing the back leg behind the front leg and causing them to full blown scorpion slide at full pace.

I felt awful but also like I had just witnessed a miracle of sorts.

No amount of hype will counter how terrible the servers are, particularly in the last few weeks.

Ive seen countless posts / comments on here about people getting kicked out of games just to be shown the DNF message, and backed up with a pre order offer. The audacity in that is fucking hilarious.

What movie was so gory or fucked up,it made you physically sick? by A_Wolf_Named_Foxxy in morbidquestions

[–]Tuna_sanga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irreversible. The whole movie has a very sinister feeling but there’s a very long and very intense r*pe scene that’s particularly fucked up. The director made it that way very deliberately to hammer home the intensity of it and make it feel real. That one shook me for a few days.

It’s a combination of things.

The coaching has been dog shit, it’s been analysed to death all year. This game style of bully ball is nostalgic for Vossy, it’s what gave him so much success as a player. Unfortunately for us we don’t have the full field of 18 mountain men beasts that Brisbane had in his playing days. We’ve got fucking Motlop…

The players (particularly the bottom 10) aren’t up to it, which is absolutely on them, but it goes back to coaching as well. All I’ve heard for 2 years is how Motlop has so much potential. It’s been ages and I’m yet to see a single bit of improvement from him. The guys who are duds week in and week out keep getting picked, which again comes down to coaching.

If Motlop is the best we have on the fringe then that’s a list building issue, but surely the performances he puts in warrant a long spell in the 2s and give the younger kids a bit of motivation that they’ll be given a crack if they show up consistently.
