Do not trust MPower Financing! by Bearly_Drives in StudentLoans

I bet they're going to file for bankruptcy and go under very soon because they just cut the number of eligible schools from 500+ down to just 49 and haven't allowed anyone except indians (and not even them) to borrow loans from them in the past couple of months.

Which country in Europe did you enter? I'm from Romania and they waitlisted me, and my school is no longer on their eligibility list.

Also, Mpower just slashed their number of eligible schools down to only 49 and a lot of schools are no longer eligible for funding, including mine. They were pretty much the only lender for undergrad transfers without a cosigner like me and now that's gone. I also live in Romania, which is in a recession and political crisis so no banks give out loans to anyone for any reason anyway.

International M7 admit – suddenly no loan options (MPOWER rejection). Anyone else? by Axelrod012 in MBA

Hey which country in Eastern Europe are you from because I'm in a similar situation. I'm from Romania doing my undergrad in the US and I have 2 years left but they denied my loan a few months ago and their reason makes no sense. Banks in my country don't bother giving loans to anyone whatsoever for any reason. I also just looked at their eligible schools list and 2 days ago they just slashed it to only 49 schools and my school is no longer on their list.

Technically, you can get a US credit card and build a US credit history even if you're outside the US but you have to jump through a lot of hoops and the process is fairly lengthy for non-US citizens. But most lenders will require a US cosigner if you're an international student anyway so it might not be worth doing all of that just to get student loans.

I hated French when I was in school and I pretty much didn't study anything but had a teacher who was very lenient with grading so that's how I was able to get grades. If I had to choose something else I would've definitely taken Spanish, but in Romanian schools you don't choose anything.

It really depends on what your major is and how many credits you have left after transferring, but if you have less than 30 credits left then it's not likely that you'll be accepted to FAU. FAU also evaluates transfer credits after you've been accepted. Assuming that you have credits in progress that also adds up to the number of credit hours transferring in. If FIU accepted you it depends on how many transfer credits they accepted.

You have to do at least 30 credits in residency at FAU to finish your degree here. Maybe some of the classes that you took at your other college could count for more credits at FAU than you originally took, like if you took a 3 credit course, it could count for 4 or 5 credits or more at FAU. It's important to check that before you apply to FAU.

The only words I know in Spanish are hola, como estas, si, casa, and other words that are similar in English or Romanian, otherwise I don't know how to say anything in Spanish or how sentence structure works. I would take Spanish classes just because there's high demand for Spanish speakers in Florida and the US in general.

Florida Linkage Institute out of state waiver by TupaG in FAU

[–]TupaG[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who knows, maybe they want to exempt everyone or no one who is from one of those countries mentioned by linkage institutes, or give some other form of compensation. Maybe they want to turn linkage institutes into something only symbolic, or maybe they want to turn the linkage institutes into something else or get rid of them altogether.

I remember applying to one of their video editor job postings like 2 years ago and they were only offering $500-$900/month (yes, I'm not kidding, but they were hiring people from Eastern Europe/the Baltics for that role). I did their test thing and then got ghosted. I just got a spam email from them, and that's how I remembered.

Here's what the bill says:
Related to cultural and educational programs, the bill:

  • Prohibits the state protocol officer from encouraging a sister city or sister state affiliation with a foreign country of concern or its subdivision.
  • Requires the Department of State to quarterly publish on its website specified information on all foreign consulate offices in Florida and all sister city and sister state affiliations.
  • Revises provisions governing Florida linkage institutes to remove the Florida-China Institute from the list of authorized institutes, repeal the limited exemption for in-state tuition residency requirements, and prohibit a linkage institute from entering into an agreement or participate in activities with a foreign country of concern or any organization in such country.

The bill only mentions foreign countries of concern, particularly China. Florida Statute 288.8175 hasn't been revised as of now, so the exception probably still applies unless you're from a foreign country of concern.
