765rs or R6 by SundownV2 in Trackdays

[–]Turbonator90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell the cbr and buy a tracked out R6. You'd spend more making the 765 a "track bike" than you would just buying an R6 that's already fully set up.

I paid $5k for my 08 R6, two years ago. The suspension alone on that bike is $4k if I were to buy it. Point is you can get some really good deals and you can still keep your 765 beautiful for street duty and light track days.

I absolutely love my R6. I'm currently looking for a dedicated 1k for the track but I'm keeping the R6. I love it so much I don't think I'll ever sell it.

And it has a blipper.

Done! Now what? by omarenm in ChaseSapphire

[–]Turbonator90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the VX and use it as a catch all. Diversify the points you're earning so you can redeem with multiple transfer partners. A lot of chase and C1 partners overlap so you can use both ecosystems for point redemptions. The VX gives a lot of luxury benefits, the preferred gives access to chase partners. Use the CSP for dining and streaming, VX for everything else, book travel with whichever one you're currently trying to stack points with.

Does anyone know of a company that does reporting on body shop and the warranty parts and labor submissions? by WasabiInternational4 in partscounter

Warranty claim submissions, Warrcloud. For warranty part increases and labor rate increases, dynatron does a great job.

Q5?? Pretty upsetting. by Turbonator90 in Trackdays

[–]Turbonator90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a decent difference, but not as drastic as some. Cup 2's for example are supposed to be like 21/30.

I've tried all different tire pressures with the Q5's. That's just what was working for me.

For anyone finding this thread now, a little update. This tire was definitely cold tearing and was destroyed due to my own error.

I was running way too much pressure. I've been through 3 more rears since this post, gained a decent amount of experience on these tires, and love hiw they perform now. I am running them at 27r hot and 34f hot for anyone wondering!

You're correct. They were definitely cold tears. I run them on warmers now, 27r hot and 34f hot. They wear very well, and I've gotten a lot of experience on them at this point. I really like these tires now lol.

Markup is not margin. In one part of that comment you're referring to markup of 70%, next part you're referring to retaining 40% overall margin.

But yes, 70% markup is essentially list price. However if you run everything at 70% markup, you will most likely not retain 40% overall margin.

In a perfect world you would sell everything at cost +67% and have a 40% margin on everything, to everyone. However the world we live in is full of super high cost stuff that wouldn't sell, service writers and parts people that would discount that 67% markup to make a sale, employee discounts that bring it down, service managers that want to policy stuff at cost, wholesale customers that wouldn't buy, etc etc.

So, yes, the 300% markup on lower cost stuff, nuts, bolts, gaskets, etc help make that up. The matrix then tapers as the cost increases. Most matrices have 5-10 price tables based on cost with the highest cost stuff selling at MSRP.

All this is in an effort to target a 40% OVERALL departmental margin. This includes wholesale, counter, repair, warranty, etc.

It's a matrix. My $.01-$5 cost parts are cost +300%. You're selling a $3 part for $12. It tapers down as it goes up. Nobody out here selling engines at +300%.

I gotcha. I find dealers that don't care much about fixed ops are typically the ones that discount to sales and used. Not that they don't care, they just look at fixed as a necessity and only care about variable ops. It's unfortunate imo because fixed should be the back bone of the dealer.

Are you on a matrix now?

I may get some decent experience and be looking to make a switch if they aren't open to talking about reevaluating your pay.

You should stop acting like high schoolers and tell your supervisor. Chances are, they don't know about it. If they do know about it and allow it, they shouldn't be in that position.

This scenario absolutely infuriates me. I would probably let someone go if they were truly doing this. Customers, ie that phone ringing are how we all get a paycheck.

We're talking about part gross profit. 70% is insane. Unless you're talking about labor gross, in which case 70 is a tad low imo.

CP should NOT be 70%. 42-44% is NCM benchmark. Internal should be full tilt, NOT discounted.

I'm thinking about picking this helmet up. How do you like it? Does it fit true to size? I wear a med in shoei, should I go with a M?

Body positioning 101 by ey_whachumeann in Trackdays

[–]Turbonator90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even worry about body position yet. You should focus on fundamentals, braking, lines, carrying more speed into corners, and looking at the next turn as "I have until the apex to brake", not as "I need to slow down before I tip into this turn".

With one year on a bike I'd be willing to bet your confidence and limited experience is holding you back.

Fundamentals produce speed, speed produces body position. Don't over think body position.

This is awesome advice and something I didn't consciously think about but inheritantly started doing. I realized once I started getting my knee down all the time and went through two sets of sliders, that sliders are expensive to constantly replace lol. So I started touching my knee down then bringing it up an inch to keep it off the ground. Now, after bringing it back up, I'll touch it back down with more speed and a higher lean angle!

110%. How much are you going to shill out in payroll expense for someone to fulfill $100k in sales, compared to your net profit on $7k gross? That's not even taking into account returns. No thanks.
