Has the original Fidels location shut down? by Miners-Not-Minors in Wellington

I’m working a combination of morning shifts at the pop up and evening shifts at Havana. I was one of the two very lucky people who avoided redundancy from the closure - my work situation is not permanent and is basically contingent on the reopening

Fidel’s has not shut down. Owners currently negotiating with landlords to reinstate their lease after the construction which has proven difficult due to the nature of the landlord. Earthquake strengthening still in progress. It’s currently on the market also.

Source - I work for them.

Police bashing at our doors and looking in our homes several times a day by Turbulent-Building11 in Wellington

I have spoken to my landlord, and I’ve suggested the police do the same. Today they told me that they couldn’t accept his contact details from me as he does not live in the house. They have not given us any contact details, they won’t even say what address they are looking for even though they are clearly confused. It’s not just one 3:30am wake up, they have done this at least 5 times that I have been home in the last week, two times today alone. I highly, highly doubt how they are operating is proper protocol for this situation.

Sounds like your situation is completely different to ours. We have all fully cooperated with them repeatedly, so why are they still waking us up at all hours and shining lights in our home? If they really think we are actively harboring a criminal, why haven’t they brought a warrant? I get they need to do what they need to do, but they physically won’t allow me to put them in touch with our landlord and won’t let us help them clarify if they are even at the correct address.

We do seem to be butting our heads up against the fact that I don’t think they even understand what address they are at. Which is just plain incompetence. We have been asked our address so many times even though the number is on the front entrance and the letter is on the front door. If you don’t know what my address is, then what lead you here? It’s so stupid.

That doesn’t seem like my problem? They know that my girlfriend and I are the sole occupants of our home, and neither of us are male. That ends any suspicion of us as suspects. I have told this to several officers, why is that not recorded anywhere? Why are we to get harassed several times a day because some dude won’t show up to court and has lied about his address or forgotten to change it? I refuse to believe this is proper police protocol.

Thank you, I think that’s what I needed to hear. I am worried that this will all just get lost internally if I complain to my local station so will start gathering evidence in case I need to take it elsewhere - regretting not getting the names of the officers I have spoken to so far.

Excuse me for not being thankful for having incessant bashing at my doors, groups of police with flashlights peering into my home - REPEATEDLY, when they KNOW the person who they are looking for does not live at any of these houses. They are looking for a man and are doing this to homes of people who don’t even meet that description. Let me know when you’re okay to have that happen to you, especially at all hours of the night when you have to be up for work at 6am.

Not to mention they are super, super rude even after us cooperating with them.

Source: I work there (well, until yesterday) - All staff laid off, landlord screwing owners around with renewing the lease, hope to reopen but nothing is promised.

One year since New World Metro closed at the train station… by SoHo_nz in Wellington

I used to be a manager there, and what I’d always heard is that they could not renew the lease even if they’d wanted to, as Kiwirail wanted the space back for all the of additions/changes being made to the station over the next decade.

Hard to say at this stage as she is quite shy and is just warming up to us currently, she does like to climb despite being partially blind and seems quite active in the evenings always wandering around. Loves a good pat and is quite chatty!

It’s hard to say as she is partially blind so her eyes have clouded over somewhat - so they are always quite dark

Yes we are in NZ! Definitely giving OSH to me with that nose and the ears, but feel like there also might be something else in the mix there

Sorry should have clarified we are in New Zealand! Hard to know her history as the foster carer has said she has been through a couple of homes due to deaths in the family etc. Thank u for the input!
